I'm not really sure how many gamers on Dakka are actually interested in a title like that, but I thought I should tell you about the game.

In case you have no idea what I am talking about, Nuts & Bolts is a game featuring 2 once iconic videogame heroes who haven't been seen on screen since 2001.

The game mechanics are easily described as a combination of the driving sequences in Jak 3 and....well, Lego racers. And the incredible machine. In every level you're supposed to beat several chalanges, which are basically all bases around racing, collecting and vehicle combat. Now, the clue is that you can build your own vehicles from scratch with a system feeling a lot like building something out of legos. All you need is a seat, and engine and fuel, the rest is up to you. But there's a hook. You can't just build any crappy vehicle. Every part you stack on brings weight to it and there are of course a lot of gadgets, guns and stuff. It's a Meks dream.

To anyone who played the earlier Banjo games, be warned: This is NOT Banjo-Threeie. But it's one damn fine game. Do yourself a favor and check out the Demo on XBox-Live.

I'm actually ashamed of this. The original game was EPIC. This is what happens to platform series (with the exception of Rayman).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

As I said, it's not Banjo 3. But it's still a great game.

So would you recommend buying this game or just renting it for a while?

Try the demo for an hour or 2. If you enjoy the vehicle building combined with the challenges then give it a go. What you have to know is that there isn't much variety with the missions. Racing, fighting, transporting all in different sizes and shapes.
It's way too long for a rental. You will have to invest a lot of time to see the ending, and if you get to it, you still got around 40% of the game left and some of those challenges are pretty tough.

Gave this a go and it's amazing. It encourages you to try thinking outside of the box. There was one challenge that had obstacles you had to go over. So the initial logical conclusion was to add springs to your car right? Yeah, but why not instead add some propellers and go for some low-flight action?

Yeah, I did that too. I also could've build something to crash through the walls, but it slowed me down to much.

There was alos one intresting mission where you had to protect a statue from flying enemies. But instead of building a fighter to hunt them all down in the sky, I build a large box with no bottom, placed it over the statue and waited till the time ran out.
