Grand total 1699

2 of the FW squads will borrow the DF from the PF and go FoFing supported by the PF and their DF's. The PF will be stationairy in the back lighting up stuff for the FW and HH. The kroot will sit on the home objective in cover (preferably woods) or flank march to tie up a shooty unit.

Does anyone has comments on this list? I'd like to hear them.

remove the kroots, they are not worth it... should you not take disrutionpots (4+ coversave i think) for you're hammerheads? it could be usefull... for that 84 points, try to take a devilfish for you're fire warriors...

are you going to the dutch grand tournament in tilburg this year? (23 & 24 octobre)

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32
2012 losses: 8, draws: 0 wins: 15

I don't know, Kroot can be useful in some situations.

Why three hammerheads? I would go with two, and then get a couple of broadsides.

Also, I really don't understand why you would ever go with a SMS on a Hammerhead. 2 Burst Cannons crank out way more shots at half price. I would consider the improved range on the SMS worth it for those kinds of benefits. I would also get disruption pods before decoy launcher, disruption pods are by far more worth it.

Same with your devilfish, disruption pods. Decoy launcher are practically worth it, they only work with glancing hits, and so they barely every work.

to all of The Bringer's recommendations, including kroot usefulness.

From my point of view, you have 16 pathfinders and nothing to use the markerlights on. Crisis suit squads and broadside squads make the best use of markerlights, in my opinion.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

I would go so far as to say drop two of the Hammerheads and use Broadsides in their stead, the twin-linked rule will save you more often than you think, and with the range of the railgun mobility isn't really an issue. With the remaining Hammerhead, I would look into giving it the ion cannon instead of the railgun. Also, drop the Kroot squad, they really aren't worth it unless you include Kroot hounds. Use the points from that to take the Shas'o commander as opposed to the Shas'el or take another Devilfish for your Fire Warriors.

That's my take on the list, and good luck!

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Awesome responses guys! It's just that I could have used them 2 years ago...

I'll be at the Dutch GT this year, just not with my Tau. It's the White Scars' and Iron hands' turn.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The original post is very old, it is a pity no-one commented at the time.

IMO one of the HHs should be swapped for Broadsides. The use of Hammerheads is for their pie-plates as much as their Rail shot. This can leave you short of heavy anti-tank, which is the Broadside's supreme role.

The Kroot can be useful by lurking in forests. Three FW teams is too many, IMO. Putting two of them in Warfishes is a good idea. It makes them mobile and protects them from melee. The firepower of the Warfish is quite considerable against lower armoured enemies, and can help against light vehicles if you manoeuvre to the AV10 side.

The list is very light on anti-MEQ weapons. These are also important in the Mech IG environment for splatting light armoured vehicles. I would therefore use the points of one FW team to buy some stock Fireknife Crisis suits. In that connection I would consider swapping the HQ's weapons for plasma + missile pod (i.e. Fireknife). Let his high BS count for the most. Remember you have Pathfinders too, so adding to the number of shots on target from one firing unit, is a very good thing.

This thread has been reported for necronisation, however I have discretion to leave it open if I feel useful new information has been added.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

This thread has no use, you're telling me things I already know. I've been reading YTTH since summer 2009, so yeah...

That wet thud you hear? My head, and The Bringer's head, bashing against cinder block.
