So in 5th edition they say that the golden throne has a defect....

Does this mean that GW is going to kill the emperor in the future?
or is it something thier gonna mention but never act on?

Doesn't matter what it is or what it is intended to do. If you add a chainsaw to it then it is instantly better!

You guys are funny.......GW kill off the Emporer?? Have you heard about the Credit Crunch? No one is going to do anything to jeopordise their products...killing the Emporer would severly jeopordise the "Grim Darkness, Yadda Yadda Yadda".....

We'll be killing in the name of the Emporer for a very long time to come!

Let's put aside for a moment that GW would have to be deep, and I mean DEEP, in red numbers to pull off a crazy stunt like that.

As far as I know, IF the Golden Thrown would fail, even for an instant, the Emporer would die. That would result in two things.
1) He gets reincarnated pretty fast in some form or the other becoming even more powerful than he was before Horus struck him down.
But not before 2) would happen.

2) The instant the Emporer dies, the last line of defense against chaos on terra would fall. Without the holy power of the the Space Emporer, Terra would immedialty be flodded with demonic forces.

Human emotion and devotion fuel and shape the Warp. With billions praying, I am sure the 'soul' of the Emporer would accend into true divinity.

Besides, just because it breaks does not mean death. If you dont know why the toilet plugs up, you can still use a plunger to good effect!

In all honesty the fluff in the current BRB is pointing to an overwhelming of humanity by xenos forces as well as super natural. Therefore my projection is that in the next edition (6th) the emperor will die, the imperium will fall apart, and a new age fo strife will descend. Followed by (7th) where the emperor is reborn and the great crusades start again, in WH50K

The idea is good, but it wont work.
First of all, as soon as hes dead (and Anung said as much) hordes of demons would tear terra apart. With the cradle of humanity gone, where would he appear? A new terra? Maybe on Cobalt *cough*

There are still thousands of Marinez Hurr running around with their fancy armour and such. The age of strife was characterized by the loss of all the technology. Humanity, basically, took several steps backwards. I dont see the Marines surrendering or throwing fancy hardware away simply because the emperor is gone. In my eyes, it just doesnt work. Humanity has advanced way too far, to be thrown back again like they did in the first age of strife.

So then hes reborn ... hm ... if any Marines are still around, theyll know about Chaos and such, so that wouldnt work either. The new Emperor leading new crusades would be senseless too, because in those days, humanity was nigh on unstoppable, because they were lead by him.

At the moment, there is sort of a balance going on. Yes humanity is not really on the rising branch here, neither are the eldar tho and they are still around.
If they ever have the chair fail, fluffwise, there will either be some hero that will be able to fix it quickly, or they can stop the storyline right where it is. There are no choices other than humanity dies, or becomes vastly superior (i.e. Rebirth of the Emperor, Starchild).

You guys are forgetting the Astronomicon....one of the main reasons why they even keep the Emporer alive....as well as all the Imperial Religious stiff and nonsense.

If the Throne broke, then the Emporer would fade, and the beacon that guides Starships through the warp would be lost! That could mean effectively a breakdown in the Imperium, as each planet is left to fend for itself.....

This is new fluff in the new book that was never mentioned before and when I read it I realized that whoever is writing the fluff now is a slow. just because the emperor dies doesn't mean a bunch of daemons show up and kill everyone. some fluff writing moron decided to turn the gloom and doom to 11. Previous fluff stated several theories of what would happen if the emperor died and none of them included daemons killing terra... the closest thing to this was the fall of the eldar but that was because they created a god.

Utter retardation; I call shenanigans on whatever fluff writer wrote that crap.

Please can you not say "slow" some people might find it offensive.

I agree who ever if writing the fluff now should be fired.

Seriously, there is a fine line between being overly politically correct and non offensive. We all know how the term was used, and know there was no malice towards people who are mentally or physically challenged.....in my opinion if you don't make an issue out of something, it very rarely is.

Still its not a very nice term to use.

I went through a copy of the old khorne/slaanesh RT era guidebook, and there was a reference to the failing of the golden throne in that book. So, this is nothing new.

I haven't read the 5th edition fluff yet, so I'm not sure where I read about this....Must have been on Dakka

Still, to me it makes a lot of sense. I mean, why ISN'T there are demon/chaos attack on Terra? Why always Cadia?

Because Cadia guards the entrance to the eye of terra, chaos would launch an attack on terra, but they havn't got pasted cadia.(yet)

Sorry mate, but that makes NO sense, whatsoever.
So Cadia needs to be taken care of in order for deamonic forces to be able to assault elsewhere? So what about other worlds out there that are attacked by deamons? Do they not "profit" from Cadias existence? S'not how it works I believe. Of course theres a LOT of other protection around terra, but i believe the astronomicon and the emperor are the main reason why deamons cannot directly attack.

edit: Teh cadian gate is the only "stable" way from the eye into "Normal" space. Therefore, its the only way for huge amounts of chaos forces (i.e. crusades) to enter imperial space. Other passages cant be relied on.
