I've tried finding the answer to this simplest of questions, to mixed results. In the new ork 5th edition codex, do the statlines for ork units give their base number of attacks, or the number of attacks that they get with thier basic equipment? For example, the basic Ork Boy is listed as having two attacks in Close Combat. Is this because he starts with both a slugga and a choppa, or does he still get +1A for having a choppa and slugga, for a total of 3A?

I've noted that nobz attacks don't change when they are bought as meganobz, so I'm inclined to belive that slugga boyz should get three attacks. If anyone can conferm this, I would really appreciate it.

An Ork Boy has A2. It will get a bonus if armed with two close combat weapons, such as a Choppa and a Slugga. When charging, such a model gets four attacks: two basic, one for the dual close combat weapons, and one for charging. If the unit exchanged their Sluggas for Shootas, then they would only get three attacks on the charge.

The "Number of Attacks" section on p37 says that all models fight with the number of attacks on their profile, plus any bonus attacks.

See also: Chaos Space Marines who have only one attack on their profile, but have two close combat weapons like Orks. They would fight with two attacks in combat (1 base, +1 for 2CCWs).

A Nob always has 3 base attacks. If using his standard Slugga and Choopa, he'll get 3+1, 4. Meganobs use a power klaw, though, so they don't get a bonus for the pistol. They're also Slow and Purposeful, so don't get an extra attack while charging if memory serves.

Didn't 5th edtion get rid of that restriction for Slow and Purposeful?

Yes it did. Check the USR section.

Yes it did remove the loss of a bonus attack on a charge for slow and purposeful. For example, Ghazkull gets two extra attacks on a charge.
