Keen on peoples thoughts.

My initial thoughts are as follows:

#1 - If I'm going to spend those extra points on one of the big meks, I should spend the 5 points extra to make the burner a power klaw. We still have comp down here however, so I wanted one of the meks to clearly be the boss of the army, and a burner is a bit more "mechy". A str5 power weapon is still not terrible I guess, and sometimes a flamer will be decent, so hopefully I'm not sacrificing too much here.

#2 - The mek in each Loota unit is stupid. Theyre really just there for modeling purposes, and will probably always be the first one to die anyway. In the mean time, its a minor sacrifice and inefficiency, whilst hopefully helping keep some army theme integrity.

#3 - Realistically, I don't think I have enough boyz, I probably need a 3rd squad of 30. However, theres a bit of local backlash towards boy hoard at the moment, so I need people to feel that the boy numbers are managable if they focus on it enough.

#4 - the one trukk is out of place, to which I agree. One of the main reasons I have it in there is purely because I had allready put a trukk together - and also it means I can throw another scoring unit in there without having people feel its an unassailable unit of 30 boyz. I'll most likely keep it in reserve, bring them up in later turns in objective missions, and/or keep them well out of trouble in KP missions to avoid giving up the easy kill point too early on.

#5 - I'm actually a fan of the big shootas on the Killer Kans. My stance had initially been that in regards to Grotzookas, "why wouldnt you?" was the appropriate response. However, I think having 18 templates scattering could slow the game down for one thing, and a range of 18 can be a bit limited for another. If up up close and within 18 inches anway, I'm usually going to be putting out some decent hurt anyway.
The extra range of the big shootas, and hitting on 4's gives me a bit more tactical viability, and gives me some decent hitting power against any av10 vehicles early on that I come up against too (especially DE Raiders, Hi Jack!).

Meks in Loota squads are not a good choice, they trade D3 shots for a Gets Hot! weapon. Since this is the age of Counts As, that Mek could be a Loota too.

While Big Shootas are good for Kans, you can get them from effectively everywhere else. I always outfit my Kans with either Rokkits or KMBs. Imo, the two latter weapons give the Kan high-strength versatility, able to blow away Marines and Terminators both at range and in CC.

Trukk Boyz are good, if you can get them to where they need to go, which you usually can thanks to the speed of the Trukk. Just be careful with the Trukk, for even Bolters can pop it.

I've got big shootas on the meks with the lootas, rather than KMB's. To me, they are still a pretty bad choice, but not terrible. With one in each unit, I see it as basically a nil trade off vs infantry, and a 30 point efficiency waste against tanks/tough MC's. In return, I get something that helps tie the lootas back into a big mek led force thematically. Should the unit take any casualties, they will always be the first wound assigned, so once that happens - I should be back to a decent level of efficiency anyway.

The thing with the kan fit out is that really, the kans are there to give some str10 power klaws, allowing some dealing with av14 should it try to get up close and personal, 4+ cover saves to the rest of the army behind them, resiliance thanks to the bubble, a tank shock blocker stopping falcons etc doing a last turn dash pushing me off the objective, and scaring away things like beserkers from just rhino rush eating my big units of orks. Often they'll be running, and the shooting is really just a bonus. Whilst big shootas can be gotten everywhere else, theyre one of those things where the more you have, the better it gets. The shootings just a bonus, and as far as the weapons go - for 9 big shootas, its 45 points. 9 Rokkit Launchas on the other hand is 135 points, and 9 KMB's is 180. Thats a lot of points not spent elsewhere.

As much as I'd love to throw in a third squad of lootas, and a third squad of boyz, I think that would be two counts of comp score suicide

a third squad of boyz how can that be a comp score suicide ? and i hope you run shoota boys and equip one of your squads of kans with grotzookas so you get some anti horde in there.

Yup, if you look at the weapons in the entry I mentioned, theyre shoota boyz. It pleases me that shoota boyz works best for my setup, because I actually much prefer the look of shoota boyz to lugga boyz, they fight in much better with my internal view of what is "orky".

As for more boyz being comp suicide... people down here dont really know how to deal with hordes. They should, and it should therefore be their problem, but truth is if they feel they can't deal with whats infront of them, they'll give up before even reaching the table, and reflect that when dishing out comp scores; which makes it my problem.
