Hi, I'm having a really really hard time finding and affordable way to transport my 10k points of assembled nids without loosing many many arms and bio morphs in the process. The only cases that seem viable so far are sabol 1 inch form trays for my gaunts, genestealers, hormies but in total I need like 16ish trays for all of them. Then about 4 3 inch trays for my fex's and tyrants. I havent even figured out how many trays for 42 warriors 15 with wings, 3 zoans, 3 lictors and the damn trygon, barbed heirodule and hierophant (these laast three I think I'll have to box up seperate with alot of foam).... any other options then buying 200 bucks of foam trays and 300 bucks worth of cases?

buy bulk seat foam form your local sewing store.
cut to shape with a hot wire and X-acto blades
use rubber cement to glue in the odd shaped custom pieces
this seems to be the most cost effective way I've found (it's more time consuming though)

Have you thought about magnetizing your bases and going with a steel tool box? I'm using foam right now, but seriously considering the toolbox, which I used for all of my other armies. Tyranids aren't space efficient enough for foam and their claws keep catching on the foam. I'm thinking of sticking a rare earth magnet on the bottom of each stand and carrying them around in one of my toolboxes.

One thing you are going to have to embrace, m'fren, is that there is no inexpensive way to transport 10k of any army, much less bugs. MUCH less bugs with wings and trygons and the like. Steel tool box sounds like a good start, since I think you can get a greater model density there than any other solution, and while plastic is good at preventing punctures, steel is steel. It's gonna be expensive, I would think, but take a look at home depot, sears outlet is running some killer sales. Tool boxes like that are a lifetime investment, as well. I've never actually magnetized my models, but I have the rare earth to do it an they will hold all but the most serious models in check. Going with cases, I would try the Sabol Battalion (I think that's the one that rolls), but the sabol trays are notoriously space inefficient. Price you pay for the flexibility of layout. What ever you do, let us know in the end, and bring pics. I for one will be very curious, b/c I just came into some reinforcements for my bugs and the guy told me there was about 1/4 of what there actually was upon delivery. As if I didn't have enough gaunts before. I don't have 10k, but I have a lot more thn I care to buy more cases for.
