Looks and sounds ok, but a test fig will help you decide better... (makes it easier for me to comment on as well as providing me with a nice example for when I do a unit of bane knights )

Why blend them? The army of the Dead color scheme is nice all by itself. Just go whole
hog and use it directly.

I want some metals in there... it'll be nice to have some contrast.

Ah. I'd think you'd have plenty of contrast in the base and/or how it looked against the entire army.

IMHO it would be too much to make them completly legion of the dead. They are not entirely ghostly like the legion. The knights weir armour, and are not incorporeal. Combining the armour with a ghostly skeleton will make them stand out from the crowd of standard" undead" (the mechanithralls, bilethralls, other zombielike beings), but keep them in line with the non-incorporeal critters. (they are not pistol or machine wraiths by far...
I still say give up a test model and we (and you) can be the judge if it works or not...

I'm actually in the process of doing the same thing. I did their 'cloth' at the bottom in the green. I made it brighter as it goes up so it's like the glowing is coming from under the armor. Then did the armor in a traditional gold and silver. I'm taking pictures as I paint them and I'll post them when I'm done. The test model came out well though I think.
Here's the initial test:

I really like it. When you first started talking about it I wasn't digging it but I think it's coming together very nicely. As a group they will look ace. Good job

I took more pictures as I've been painting the unit and decided to write up a guide while I did it.

Here's part 1 of the guide with more/larger pics. I'll post part 2 when it's done.

Looking very good. Thanks for the guide, will be using it once I get a unit of knights. I really love the models for them...
Keep up the work and please show of some other stuff as well, as it looks like you have some good techniques I would like to copy
