Like I said before on the article section, this has to be some of your best battle reports I have seen this past year. Please keep them coming and I hope to play you again in the future.

I'd just like to reiterate that that was a great battle report. But I believe the list you took was illegal. You can't take 8 sisters + 1 sister superior in a Troops slot, you must take at least 9 + 1.

#1. Army builder let me do it.

#2. I changed my list around and I corrected it. I took 9 SoB+1 VSS. I was unable to finish a model with an eviscerator, so I took the extra sister, and some wargear instead (It looks like it was a good thing that I did!).

It was nice of the judge to overrule the FAQ about mystics vs drop pods. [/sarcasm]

The judge explained it by saying that only the drop pod was deep striking, and the infantry were just disembarking.

That is why I always cary printed versions of the FAQs with me when I go to tournaments ^_^.

Which judge was it? And yeah, I carry all the FAQs as well.

Great job Blackmoor!

That being said, I launched the thread 'The game is bankrupt' about 2 months ago pointing out that the Ork list is simply broken for tournament play. Guess what, Orks win again, and with the top two battle scores at this round of the Ork Love In, I mean GT.

Admit it GW, Orks are at least a point each too cheap. Playtest your stupid Codexes....

Yeah that Judge really made the WRONG call on the drop pod shoting. Wow, just WOW. If this is how they judge at GT's maybe I'll pass.

Salamander Marines 65-12-13
Dark Eldar Wych Cult 4-1-0
Dark Eldar Kabal 36-10-4
2010 Indy GT Tournament Record: 11-6-3

I found the judges at the GT's are quite stupid. I remember when the previous space marine codex just came out. At one of the GT's a judge said it was okay for troops disembarking from drop pods to assault since it was "open topped", even though it specifically stated this was not possible IN the codex.

I had printed out the FAQs for both the Demonhunters and Witch Hunters but I forgot it was in there :(

I think the judges do good work in a thankless job.

A massacre was a forgone conclusion, or I would have made more of an issue of it.

In the external play testers defence, they DID playtest it, but under 4th ed. I only know one playtester so cant speak for the rest, but they didnt get to hear any specifics of 5th ed at all, where the army got significantly better.

Additionally, making orks 1 point more expensive would have changed nothing at Baltimore, Whos going to care if a Nob Biker squad is 500 points or 510 points? Instead you just reaffirm that you don't really know what you're talking about :/ Instead you should be saying "change your stupid design philosophy and cater to what you consider to be a minority market, focusing on tournament balance, which you've said you're never going to do".

Nice report Blackmoor, I can certainly relate to forgetting to take photos due to focusing too much on the game when the going gets tough !

Given the edit, I guess I should point out that my reply was neither personal, nor attacking you - so hopefully a reply can be equally civil Probably best to leave it out of this thread though, I've never been a big fan of derailing.

Blackmoor - do you have any closer pictures of those GK's? They look great!

Sorry that someone made a bad call in your game vs drop pods.

For future reference if you know a rule and a judge makes a mistake feel free to point the rule out to us. We are humble and admit when we make mistakes.

We have been told though that the 07' -08' tournaments have been the best to date as far a judges go. Hopefully we can do even better in the 09' season.

As always Blackmoor nice Batreps. The Eldar list was suprisingly more balanced than what you usually see.

Clay how are you affiliated with GW? There have been a lot of complaints about the judges in general over the years. Having played in a lot of GTs I try to avoid them if possible. They just do not have a good grasp of the rules and are easily confused in complex situations. I think there should be some training involved and they be tested annually to remain certified.

Very nice report. I like the pics. I am glad you did not take a hit for those exorcist. I really find it annoying that people have views like that at a tourney. After all it is a tourney. I am sure there were worse builds and its not like you have a ton of options with your army.

I agree with the comment about the Eldar. I would not have expected a build like that in a tourney.
