Hi all,
I used to play! Collected Dwarfs, Tomb Kings, Imperial Guard, some Tau when they first came out, some Bretonnian and Dark Elves but never had a full army for them... basically three solid armies and a bit of anything that caught my imagination. I dropped from it because I couldn't keep up with GW's torrent of price hikes and re-releases of rules and army books etc. Not complaining, just a fact. That and the store that hosted our games fell out shortly after we all went our ways after high school. So ended up selling most of my armies for college. Good memories though.
Now, due in part to the awesome looking minis that have been coming out for WH Fantasy and the relatively-reasonable prices to be found on ebay (and because I really want to paint again... I like painting as much or more than gaming actually) I'm thinking of collecting again.
I want to get a few chaos minis and the army book and go from there. Aside from Tomb Kings and the splash of Dark Elves, haven't been on the evil side yet! And Tomb Kings are only barely evil... they're so misunderstood...
Anyway, the blunt barbarian-ness of the northmen appeals to me as a nice fresh start and the new minis make my painting-hand drool. I've always enjoyed theming my armies so I'm thinking of going Khorne (plenty of opportunity for gruesome customizations and conversions with my sprues of leftover TK skulls!), either all mounted (would be a shock to use after playing Dwarfs so much hahaha) or all infantry coastal raiders -- viking style!
I've been reading around on the internet and realize many people have issues with Khorne armies as being the army for the gamer-with-a-win-ratio-complex, since it's rather powerful and not very hard on the brain, but I'm going to try to ignore this stigma. I'm sure when I finally start battling again there will be times I win and times I don't, just like always, so I'm going to focus on making an army I like regardless.
Joined this forum because no doubt I will need a few tips along my journey, especially when I start tinkering with potential army lists, and this one looks pretty legitimate and full of good people.
So, hello!
