Is there an equivalent to GW's White Primer that is purchasable in more accessible stores like Wall-mart or Micheal's. I just need some more but I can't wait till the next time I go to a hobby store.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

Car primer works ok. I use primer from Halfords, don't know what the equivalent is in the US.

So any Car Primer will work, or is there something I should look for?

Rustoleum or Krylon flat white works fine. As another poster wrote, any auto primer should work as well.

I recently started using Krylon instead of GW's.. the Krylon seems a bit thicker to me.. maybe it's just the can I got. So just don't spray the crap outta stuff. But then I can't compare to GW's current white primer, the old kind was the last kind I used.

I have never used an GW primer. I always use car primer.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I use the Plastikote range of sprays. These are designed for hobby use and and retail £2 cheaper than GW, available from B&Q (hardware superstore) so maybe there is an equivalent in the US.

NOT ANY CAR PRIMER WILL WORK.

You have to be careful. I cn't recall the exact Terminology, but some primer expands when you spray it on. Basically, it's meant to fill in little blemishes and scratches on the surface of your car.

This primer has NO intelligence. It cannot tell the difference bewteen a scratch on your car and the detail on your mini's face. It will expand in either.

You want primer that is NON--EXPANDING.

Micheal's carries the Plastikote white spray at $4.00 per can. The test figures I primed covered as well as GW's old white primer.
