Hello all,

First off if i am asking in the wrong section please don't hesitate to point out my stupidity (as with the rest of my question).

Being a noob to Warhammer 40K and in the process of restudying the rule gides for the 5th edition (7th time now) i am still confused with regards to the PILE-IN! bit in the assault:
-How do you actually pile (maybe an example scenario)?
-When does it apply? My understand is if one side is destroyed --> Consolidate, Draw --> Pile-IN
Loosing --> Moral Check : -Pass --> PILE-IN, -fail/immune will either lead to a consolidate or PILE-IN.

The actual process of PILLING-IN is confusing me so any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

You pile in AFTER the first round of combat and neither side is destroyed. Each side sort of consolidates into each other more to get all units close together again for maximum attacks in the next assault phase.

It works like this:
Unit charges into combat.

Both sides fight.

Remove casualties.

If neither unit is destroyed, resolve Leadership Checks to Fall Back or Fearless Additional Casualties.

If one side is destroyed, the other unit may consolidate.

If neither side is destroyed, and neither side has run away, this is where you Pile In. Move models up to 6" to get as many more combatants from the units into base to base or within CC range.

Pile in happens any time at the end of a combat being resolved where neither side of the combat has fled due to failed morale check, and neither side has been entirely wiped out.

any models that aren't in base contact with atleast 1 opposing model moves up to 6" to become in base contact. (both players take turns in doing this)

It's really quite simple and the rulebook is very clear, I don't think you will get much help in explaining it short of maybe getting lucky and having someone explain it in dutch

untrue, you pile in in any round of combat which satisfies the conditions for a pile in.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Mattlov, Drunkspleen, thank you guys for your reply.

I got confused as it was explained to me in Dutch (not my language) and made it more complex then it is.

Thank you guys for your help.

Hey I play Tyranids, Round 2 of an assault isn't all that common for me.
