Hey kids

Been a really long while since I played tomb kings (about 2 or maybe even 3 years) and in fact I've only played 7th edition twice since it came out.

So.. in my TK collection, I have just about everything except for a bone giant and carrion. I used to play defensively, kind group up in a corner or surrounding a hill with my casket or 2 catapults on it and then when the other guy gets close I'd start magic-moving all around and charging him on all sides. Also the army would be very magic heavy using a prince as a general, LHP and priests just spamming spells everywhere to burn up scrolls and dice early on. Will something like that work these days?

I'll be playing a 2500 pt game vs empire in a couple weeks. Can anyone recommend a good idea for a list?

list would depend on what the Empire player is using and/or on your preferred style of play. Big blocks of bows that pepper the enemy with shots then reform into blocks to take the charge seems viable to me. Your really not going to have to worry about his magic phase but having something in your army to take care of war machines would be helpful. Thought about giving the Prince the cloak and a great weapon and flying him out to kill war machines? Not too risky if you use your terrain well. Until they redo the TK, their magic phase isn't as powerful as it used to be, lots of things now generate extra dispel dice or MR or act as scrolls, so the 4 spells + MWBD may or not be game breaking.

I'm soon going to be involved in a 4 month 500pt/month campaign and this is the list that I'm building, only 2K but it has a balance of shooty and fighty in it.

TK - Golden Ank Armour of Ages GW SH (Might take terror instead of armour)
TP - GW Enchanted shield
LP - Scroll Cloak
LP - Scroll Hieratic jar
10x bows
10x bows
10x bows
24x Tomb - Guard Standard Rapakh
24x Tomb - Guard Standard War Banner
Tomb Scorpion
Tomb Scorpion
Screaming Skull - Skulls
Screaming Skull - Skulls

May also take my own idea and give the Prince the cloak, the King the Death mask, the heirophant the collar and drop 2 tomb guard

Hope that helps

In addition to the above, I will simply add two tournament winning lists I have used, to show some other options - the best thing about TK is that you can make anything work!

List 1: Infantry Phalanx
TK: Flail of Skull, Collar, Cloak
Hierophant Liche: Steed, Scroll, Jar
Liche x 2: Steed, Scroll

24 Skeletons: Ch, St, LA, Sh, Banner of the Undying Legion
2 x 20 Skeletons: St, LA, Sh
3 x 3 Chariots
13 Archers: Ch

5 Carrion
2 x Scorpion

Screaming Skull Catapult: Skulls of the Foe

= 2250

List 2: Mobility is King

TK: Flail of Skull, Collar, Cloak
Hierophant Liche: Steed, Scroll, Jar
Liche x 2: Steed, Scroll

2 x 4 Chariots: St
3 Chariots
2 x 5 Light Horsemen
13 Archers: Ch
2 Tomb Swarms

5 Carrion
3 Carrion
2 Tomb Scorpions

Bone Giant
Screaming Sull Catapult: Skulls of the Foe

= 2248

Hope this helps, though I do really like PopaSmurf's list as well!

In 2250 I run something like this: (I dont have my list in front of me but its close)

Prince
Spear of Antrak
Enchanted Shield
Chariot

High priest (Heiro)
Golden Ank
Reroll spells Plaque
Casket

Liche priest
Cloak of flying
1 use jar

Liche Priest
Staff of Ravening
Horse

4 Chariots
FC
Regen Banner

15x Skeletons
FC
Shields
LA

15x Skeletons
FC
Shields
LA

5x Tomb Swarms

2 Scorpians

Bone Giant

This list has been rediculously effective for me. I play just like you do. Turtle around the "casket hill" and wait for the softened troops to come across the board then unleash hell.
Burrow the scarbs if they have a ton of artillery.. if not then use them to deny flanks or further protect the casket.. 25 healable wounds = uber.

Looks like my game will be happening the day after xmas here is what I came up with, based on PapaSmurf's idea

I'm not sure about the chariots though, they rarely do much for me and since i'm playing against Empire he's sure to have cannons. Maybe I could give the banner of undying legion to the regular skeletons and switch the charriots to burrowing swarms?

Either you are not mentioning light armour or you are overcosting the skellies by 20 points.
Also for a little bit of psycological warfare drop the skulls in one of the catapults and then in every magic phase announce that you´ll shoot the skulls of foe cat. 2nd odds are that you opponent will dispel that spell over the regular cat to avoid the -1 panic test allowing the other shot to go through.

Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."

Oh.... yeah, they do have light armor

I think I will change the chariots to swarms, then I can also bump those skeletons up to 25.. since he's sure to have some war machines or handgunners hanging back. I just hope there's no steam tank :(
