What do you guys think? I really like the idea of being able to run this many monstrous creatures and this looks like a ton of fun to play. I also really like a khorne theme so I am going to use Khorne models for the Daemon Princes and have them be counts as for the Nurgle abilities. I am still thinking of ways I might be able to model that.

looks nasty, but I think there's one serious problem: 20 troops. a few pie plates and you won't be able to win unless you table your opponent. I suggest dropping either a crusher unit or a daemon prince, or make it a 2000 point list in order to get more bloodletters. just my 0.02$.

I agree with the captain. If someone put that force down on a table in front of my, my first reaction would be to choke, my second would be to ask him which units were troops so I could focus all my efforts on wiping them out whilst hiding my own.

Beyond that this list looks absolutely terrifying.

thats what i plan to do but with a tzeentch theme.

on topic: i like the list, it looks like its alot of fun to play, id prolly drop a BT for a herald on chariot + more troops. but scarey list, especially if playing for fun,

I've found the best daemon core is 10 blood letters and around 18 plague bearers with an Icon.

18 plague bearers are just so good at sticking around. FNP allows you to deepstrike straight into terrain and not worry. Then you can go to ground.

There is just no army in the game that can kill 18 PBs that have gone to ground with shooting allow. And if you tried the rest of the army will eat you.

As for the blood letters. They hit like a ton of bricks if they get there. Most likely they won't but they are a huge threat that has to be dealt with by every army. Deamonettes and horrors can be ignored by a lot of armies...

Also a final note. Why the wings on the DPs? Super expensive. I find they don't need it. I have them walk and instead I give them the shooting the S5 shooting power. The BS 5 makes the shots really deadly, and they are ok at weathering incoming fire.

Also just to throw it out there I find the GUO to be a beast. BTs are really only good at swatting SM characters and vehicles. The GUO eats monstrous creatures and troops.

Actually, Pdeflorio, dangerous terrain can't be saved with FNP, only invulnerable. Check it out.

And I agree, the 20 troops, fairly fragile, do worry me. If they do get shot, you're in trouble. maybe drop a daemon prince for another squad? Otherwise, a reasonable list.

remember, bloodletters also die to a stiff wind.

Besides, a daemonzilla list already has more power weapons than it can possibly ever need, I would recommend sticking to plaguebearers. That way nothing in your army is under T5, and has either 3+ armour, or 5++/4+FNP, making the whole army ludicrously resilient to small arms shooting, normally a downfall of daemons. 20 plaguebearers would be *better* but I think more would be required. Let's try something:

drop the 20 bloodletters. (+320)
drop the wings off the princes: deep striking, and proper application of icons makes 5 winged MCs redundant. besides, thirsters only need wings for 2 reasons: catching tanks, and not getting lashed around the table all day. (+500)
add 1 bloodcrusher to each group. These guys are the only thing in your army able to break the back of an ork mob or other large massed infantry. They need all the attacks they can get. (+420)
get 24 plaguebearers, in 2 groups of 12. (+60)
give each group an icon of chaos. this means you don't need wings, and you suck a lot of that zany randomness out of your army. doing your sanity a favour in the long run. (+10)

Just think. the easiest kill point in your army? the T5 4W 3+/5++ daemon princes

Trust me on the plaguebearers, I've had mine survive the charge of 30 slugga boyz w/ warboss, 24 rapid firing BS5 fire warriors (3 consecutive turns, in fact. granted they were in cover.), everything. Only plague marines can compete for survivability, except plaguebearers are far less numerous and get mashed by plasma.

Use those last 10 points to get instruments for the plaguebearers, too, if you go that route. Well worth it, since they'll be tying a lot of combats they get into.

I ran a similiar list back when the codex 1st released. It is lethal but you need more troops.

Thanks fo the comments. I agree with what most of you have been saying about troops. I know this list is light on troops and that with focus firepower 20 bloodletters is not that Hard to kill. I am still trying to think of a solution.

As for winds on the Princes I have gone back and forth about this and have ultimately decided that wings are a good idea for a few reasons:

1. just Deep striking right in front of the enemy and planning to weather the storm is not always a good idea. especially not if there is alot of AP3 floating around. 12 inch move will let me move around obstructions and avoid rapid fire range.
2. If fighting assault units, wings will help me avoid getting charged.

Even with those advantages, they are expensive...for the most part I was running them with wings because I already have 2 DP modeled with wings. But I am planning on getting another one soon, so I might just magnetize the wings. If I had one prince without wings, this would allow me to take 3 squads of 8 bloodletters, which my be an improvement.

I disclaim this post with the following: I run a single daemon prince in my daemonzilla lists.

Some may disagree, but Soulgrinders are very good matches for the daemonzilla style list: they laugh heartily at S6 and under (where's your multi and scatter laser spam now?), and still handle ludicrous amounts of non-melta shots due to possession. Plus soulgrinders fill a problematic area for daemonzilla, ork hordes. Ask an IG player (if you can find one) what a leman russ will do to a 30 boy mob. That's right, gut it like a fish. Unlike the russ, the grinder gets to throw out 6 bolter shots and then assault as well. Oh, and the PK Nob? S9 hitting on 3+ is no major concern, tbh.

Anyway, back to the daemon princes.

For example, this is how I generally outfit mine:
Daemon Prince
Iron Hide (mandatory)
Mark of Nurgle (get this, unless you need a specific power from another mark)
Cloud of Flies (5 pt def/off grenades? yep, you guessed it. manditory w/ MoN)
Noxious Touch (rerolled 2+ to wound against everyone but other MCs, who're just 2+ wound? lmaonaise, I say.)

This guy'll run you 150 points, which is dirt cheap for what you get. You can give him things like breath of chaos, which is pricey but'll make a pack of terminators weep. Daemonic Gaze is also good, relatively inexpensive, and gets maximum use out of the prince's BS5. I usually attach gaze to my princes, giving them some respectable ranged threat on the charge in. It suckers poor saps into wasting time trying to kill them, too, which I love.

Something to keep in mind about Daemon Princes: I find Nurgle DPs have one primary job, and that's to stand in front of shooty units and wave their arms and shout, "Shoot me! Shoot me! Ignore the big red guy cutting your Land Raider into steel ribbons, I'm menacing your gunline! GRRRRRR!" WS6 T5 4W 3+/5++ and defensive grenades for 150 points. Mee-yow. I've had my DP soak both a 30 boy and 12 genestealer charge before (seperate games mind you ). You can kit them differently, and they mash marines like crazy, but they generally lack the attacks to be truly killy vs. rank and file troops.

One other thing you might want to consider, and I have a very hard time hitting the table without them these days, is a suicide flamer squad (3 flamers of tzeentch, for 105 points). I tend to employ them as a 105 point cruise missile of doom. I've wiped 6-man terminator squads, 15-strong loota squads, crippled 30 boy mobs and biker nobz, even immobilized a land raider or two. These guys are like my ace in the hole, I pull them out and blast them at whatever most needs removal. Either bring them in off an icon to bail out a scoring troop unit, or drop them in the backfield on some unsuspecting sap and watch whatever you shoot wither and die. The more expensive, heavily armed and armoured unit you can find, the better.

So, yeah. Soul Grinders, Plaguebearers, and Flamers. Give them some thought, see if they're right for you and the way you play this list.

And for those who're wondering about the weak linch pin of this army? It's the wallet of it's general Bloodcrushers are exorbitantly expensive, and the only reason I don't run true daemonzilla lists (I have to satiate myself with 5 crushers, 3 MCs and 2 soul grinders.)
