I've finished my first carnifex. I've put magnets in the arm sockets, tail, head and carapace to allow customization. I'll be painting up more options for this and other carnifexs in the near future. Let me know what you think.

Looking pretty good. His colors make him look a bit like a crab. Did you do a lot of drybrushing?

nope, there is absolutely zero dry brushing done on this model. It's all done with paint layering, blending and washes.

Yeah, I really don't see any drybrushing at all.

Nicely done, man. I'm very jealous. I seriously wish that I had a magnetized 'fex, or three. I'm sure you'll get around to other weaponry later?

Nice. Did you have problems with arms rotating or did they stay in place without any need for guide pins?

-Chrysaor686- Yeah I'm painting up some other weaponry for it. I'll be adding 3 more fexs like this to my arsenal too.
-Ifurita- At first I had a bit of an issue with the arms rotating. I had used 1/32" thick magnets on the arms at first. I replaced those with 1/16" thick and lightly sanded the magnets to help provide friction. Now the arms can be posed in any position and stay remarkably well.

That's ingenious. You can change it depending on what you need it for. Very nice painting too!

Very nice painting man, when do we get to see the other options for switching etc? This'll be my first real mod when I do one over Christmas.

I wonder if that tute for doing this is still around?

Can people stop posting pics of magnatized carnifexes please. It makes me sad that I didn't do mine like that. Now, a bombproof tutorial on recovering 'old school glued carnifexes' from the grave without ruining them, that would be interesting!!!

Seriously though, nice job on the magnets.
Very nicely painted!!

I'm also going to magnetize all my warriors and tyrants too. I'll probably start a blog on the whole army when I really get rolling on the painting.
