Good question. Right now, RAW states that the Big Mek, when in a transport, is technically no longer on the table, and therefore neither is his KFF. Therefore, he issues no cover saves or obscurity to anything while remaining in the transport. However, in my local gaming group, all of who were familiar with the older Ork codex and how it handled KFF in vehicles, have accepted it as RAI that the KFF is in game and measured from the hull of the vehicle. This, I may remind you, is breaking the rules printed, so is only a house rule. This and many other very relevant Ork questions have yet to be clarified by GW on an official level (Deff Rolla tank shock anyone?), so we are all patiently awaiting either Yakface's awesome FAQ compilation or some other piece of trash GW wishes to throw at us.

Moz:
You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"
Me: "Ok so what is a ram, lets look at the rules."
Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?" |

And the KFF works even better, since it measures from the hull.

Yes, it has been FAQ'd that it works from the hull of the vehicle. Very nice for the Battlewagon Blitz
I thought of something that might be fun. The Battlewagon Bunker. BW with a couple Big Shootaz on it, with the Killkannon upgrade. Put in 2 Big Meks, 1 with KFF the other with SAG. Attach them to a unit of 10 Lootaz. Then, put another unit or 2 of lootaz just outside. Lots of points, lots of Dakka!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"
I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness. ADB |
