Why does everyone think this is a good move? They tend to get in the way and cause needless panic tests. Yes it can help if youre frenzied or if your opponent lacks a hill, but otherwise not very helpful. I tend to throw my dogs in front of units so that if you shoot the dogs you dont shoot my more valuable units, but the real reason im doing it is so the dogs can kill the warmachines or the archers. I never really screen with dogs, i distract, feint, and take table quarters with them.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

If your knights are subject to frenzy, a unit of dogs prevents them from running off after your opponents throw-away units.

Common tactic with VC Blood Knights and Dire Wolves.

I was under the impression that warriors of chaos dogs don't cause panic tests. Am i mistaken?

Its not as a screen directly in front of your units.
The warhounds are placed to the flanks of your units (usually frenzies ones) and then used to block LOS to bait units so your frenzied units don't have to charge bait units in the remaining moves phase on mvt.

They can be placed infront though - they have a high M value, and panic is no real threat for chaos when you have ld 8 with a re-roll - thats about 93% pass.

The fact hounds also bump up your number of deployments is also very helpful.

Hounds are also supremely useful for drawing charges and leaving the charging unit in a bad position after the dogs flee or lose. Or they stay in the units face, keeping it pinned if it refuses to charge.

I use the warhounds for screening, baiting and taking table quarters...and if possible, chase a mage and/or warmachines if they have a chance to do so...rarely so cause they always get shot up to bits..

@ Waaagh_Gonads
frenzied units declare their charge at the end of the declare charges part of the movement phase, if youre dogs arent directly in front of the unit they cant stop you from charging.

What gonads is trying to say to you is that if you use your dogs to limit the visibility from the frenzied unit to baiting enemy units, you can minimize the distraction enemy has over your control of where the frenzied unit is going. The dogs don't have to be in front of the unit it is enough that they block the charge lane to the baiting unit.
