Hi all

I'm putting together some Tyranids as a side project and at the moment I have a list with 2 Lictors in it.
I already built one, normally standing on a base with rubble, some broken stuff and flock/grass.

Now here's my question: I had the idea of making the second one look like he is swimming through some water (industrial green coloured, of course), only his head and the top of his gigantic claws being visible.

This would certainly look cool, but then again I would have to spend like 20€ for a model that I only need the head from and some cut-to-fit claws ...

So folks, is this idea worth it ? Would you like to see something like this ? Please share your thoughts

I think it would be pretty neat. You could use the bottom half and make an objective piece that looked like he was ducking into a tunnel or drain.

Sounds cool.

For a slightly cheaper option than buying an entire Lictor (well, cheaper if you have Genestealers and Warriors/Carnifex in the army) would be to use a Genestealer Feeder Tendril head (extend the back of the head with a little green stuff if you want it to match the Lictor a little better) and a pair of Warrior or Carnifex Scything talons.

Ok thanks
Here's another issue I came up with^^ Today I bought a Ravener blister and I noticed that it comes with the tail being an extra piece.

So, would it be unfair to make 2 Raveners from 1 blister ?
Meaning:

I'd like to model a Ravener that is bursting out of the ground or a tunnel or whatever. That means that I don't need the tail anyways.

That given, I thought about just bending the tail and glue it on another 40mm base, making t look like a Ravener just began digging a tunnel.

Would you be cool with that ? Or do you think that would be modelling for my advantage (gameswise)?

I wonder if you could build a bunch of genestealers swimming through the water, with just the heads extended. Would be a PITA with TLOS, though it would be fun to bring them on and see people's reactions.

Just make sure that there is some rubble, section of wall, a tree or something on the base the
same height as a ravener and you should be good to go!

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

or resolve the line of sight of the "digging" ravener with the true height of a real ravener instead. but honeslty, people are gonna be rather negative that you did this.

you will get complaints if your model is only about 1cm high, no matter how beautifully modelled it is. But this is easily fixed, along the lines of what Alex says above - as you want the 'bursting out of cover' pose anyway, make that cover is high enough so that the resulting model is the standard model height. I'm thinking of doing something similar for my Lictors, having them peering out of a ventilation duct about 3cm high

I don't know about the tail thing.
It wouldn't look very dramatic.
It would kind of look like he was running away.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
