I would have just updated my original post but the last time I did I only got one look off it. Well, kicked it into gear and got the wings done on this Daemon Princess for my Word Bearer's. I was worried about painting the wings and really shouldn't have been. The coloring came out exactly how I wanted it. If you remember the original post, you may be wondering where the sword went and the tail. Keeping more in touch w/ the whole Word Bearer's fluff, I wanted her hefting something that would resemble a Dark Crozius. Mission accomplished on that part. The tail, despite how good it was looking at the time, just ended up too big in relation to the rest of the model.

There are obviously a few finishing touches to give this girl. I've got some primping to do on her hair, so a wash and highlights are in order. I'm still working on putting a pair of horns on her forehead as well. The base will also need to be done up. So far, I've got the idea of using a smashed Fleur de Lyse emblem from one of the Immolator doors and a Chaos Undivided emblem that is raised off the surface of the base. Another idea was to use the unused tail and other 'tentacle' like appendages coming up out of the base.

Hmmm, a crushed/broken Fleur and a Chaos Icon rising from the base? What about the Fleur broken in half, and the Chaos Icon rising up out of it?

i like everything cept for the hair, and eyes.

the hair looks like it is just stright white.

and its eyes gives it a "deer in the headlight" look.


but other then those 2 things, good job. i wish i could paint skin that well.

At the time of that pic, it was just straight white, I'm still working on it and not liking it so far myself. I'm likely going to change hair color and go w/ something mid ranged like auburn. The eyes I've left, but yeah...gotta try to do more with them. The pic doesn't show the actual shading there and the white hair washes out the face alot. You're still right however. Thanks about the skin, it was killing me while I was doing it but I'm satisfied with the look. One should never look at a painted mini this close...all the bad stuff shows.

Ok, got an update for ya. Here's the new hair color and eyes. Terra Cotta Base on the hair w/ Blood Red streaks and Elf Flesh for Highlights. The eyes, I just tried to accentuate the upper lid w/ some shadow/eyeliner. Seems to work now. The pics are pretty darned close and about as good as they'll get w/ my camera at night.

I like how when you're cropping shots for a close of up of the hair, you still keep the boobage perfectly visible and obscured.

Everything looks good except she has a lazy eye.... I guess some guys find that sexy, its just not my cup of tea.

I like everything except for the eyes. They are just, I dunno. The right one is good, but the left one makes her look really goofy. Like, even though she is a demon death machine, if she came at me. I would probably break down laughing at her.

I really wish this was an original...sigh...I came by it as an original for myself but I guess somebody else did as well. If you find my original post about my DP Prince and Princess you'll find a link to the other person that made one similiar to this. Anyway, I'm liking it.

It really wasn't intentional, I'm just lazy using the same cropping macro and didn't bother to go the extra mile. TBH, no mini should be looked at this close up, its darned scary!

Fortunately, I haven't sealed it yet so I still can work on it. It really isn't easy even for a 54 mm sized head. (The model is 54mm that is ) Also, you can so tell how crooked the face is, that's the casting btw not the painting.

Dreadwinter, my apologies, in my zeal to multi-quote these replies I accidently ignored you. I'll fix that as soon as I figure out how. It wasn't intentional and I agree with your post..LOL.

I should post a farther shot, a lot of the imperfections would never be seen except at such a magnified degree. Soon as I can do it, I'll post a new full body shot.

For the eye, it looks like you laid the white down directly on the flesh tone. You could have a) used a wash to shade the socket or b) used a darker color like a deep brown to paint the eye socket and then put the white on top of that. Lastly, the middle part can be painted as a straight line, using the same dark bronw color, down the middle, or however you like. That would have given the eye some definition and made is less bug eyed.

This is a demon Princess right? Personally I'm a big fan of going with the pure black or pure red eyes. No eye whites or retina or pupil at all. And then use some soft highlighting like on lenses. Just gives it that creepy evil look imho. Might wanna give that a try.

Caught me red handed. I've never done alot of eyes on minis, I tend to stay away from the unhelmeted heads for most of figures I game with. Thanks for the quick tutorial, I'll remember that next time.

I do something like that myself, especially on my regular DP model, which I'll post here shortly. Oh, yeah...I had to crop the previous two pics...the 'pointer sisters' were just too much.

Thanks again for the input everyone, C&C always welcome. Given that Greater Daemons in the new CSM Codex have zero upgrades, I'll be fielding the regular DP as a Greater Daemon. It works IMHO, since they end up possessing an Aspiring Champion. Why wouldn't the GD have some of the armor left in the transformation?

Outstanding work.

The skin tones on the girl AND the daemon are excellent. Plus the big guy's sword is ridiculous. I can't say enough good things, I want to keep commenting.

I do have one criticism, though. Wood panelling? Come on man, this isn't the 70's anymore. (just kidding) Post the whole army, I could look at these paint jobs all day.

TYVM, I really wish GW did better by: 1. Making more Female figures 2. Making them more feminine looking.

My only criticism other than what others have posted is that you missed a breast.
She needs one on her back, for dancing...

Appreciate the feedback everyone. I'm still working on that eye btw. I really wished I'd known how necessary it would be to have wings on a DP. If so, he'd had them also. However, I like the idea of using him as a GD instead.

Have you considered something different with they eyes?

Perhaps painting them solid green or red and applying a wash/glaze of the same colour around the eye to show it glowing?

That would be a keen view of her demonness that is evident from behind.

Love the concept and execution.

yea id second the solid color attempt. specially if you can make the color bright and then glossy. might look pretty neat.

to bad she isnt a slaneesh DP then you could just make her eyes into nipples
