What do you think?

Is he worth the point cost, or is it just too much?
Or is he just complete cheese?

Also, if you were to choose (or were forced to choose) Archaon as part of your list, what would the rest of the list look like?
How would you use him?

I'm very curious as to how he would work from a competitive viewpoint and if any of you have any stories, I'd like to hear them.

I'd start to consider him at 2,500 point games as we have a couple of tourneys of that size that allow special characters.

As for the rest of the army.

Well you need a unit of knights.
I'd go cav heavy personally with marauder horsemen as troops, and the rest knights and warhounds.

Who needs ranks when you have Archaon?

He is a bugger to kill, but probably worth close to the value they gave him.

Ive used him in 2250. I only popped his sword in the last round. Why take hits if you dont need to. He is super super durable and 5 str 5 ignore AS attacks is plenty (+his horse). Not to mention all his other abilities. He is well worth his points and not that much more expensive than a normal chaos lord kitted out with a daeomonic steed.

He's really good, but don't ever stick him knights as they'll probably get flanked and cause him to run. He does just fine on his own.
