Hi all,
I just finished uploading these to the new Dakka Gallery, which I highly recommend, and I wanted to post them here for some feedback... The Assault squad is a basis for how I'm planning on my whole army looking... weathered Marines with scenic rubble-strewn warzone bases. The only thing I haven't done yet is the script on the purity seals, as I haven't decided how to do them yet and don't want to muck them up. Let me know what you all think, and feel free to ask any questions!
I'll post a highlight set here, and the rest can be seen in my new Dakka Gallery, where I'll be setting up shop for a good long time. You can see much larger pics of the whole squad in the Gallery as well.

Heavily weathered marines have always looked better than pristine, spotless nancyboys, in my opinion.

Great work so far, keep the pictures coming!

Very nice! I am curious about the white markings on the Sgt's helmet. What are those?

Thanks for the comments! Do you mean the white drops on the side of the helmet? I was figuring they'd be the external equivalent of service studs or some other honorific...

I really like how your weathering came out, the jump packs especially. I look forward to seeing more of your combat blood angels.

The weathering and painting overall is spectacular. I'd never have the balls to do it myself.

Well, in my oppionion, an army of spotless nancyboys can be pretty convoncing as well.
I really like the weathere look here though. Spot on, very nice

Though some things about the paintjob originally bothered me in the first few close-up photos, it really comes together brilliantly from afar. And that's what matters most.

Great work.

That group must look spectacular on the table. Great work, keep it up.

Great work Prometheum5, the weathering and battle damage looks great and helps lessen the blow of having to paint yellow helmets (which I'm not a fan of being a BA commander myself).
Excellent work on the bases too, these make the models really stand out from the rest.

Thanks for the comments... I think dirtying them up a bit and using a slightly darker palette does a lot towards preventing them from looking gaudy, which is a potential with Blood Angels (just look at the 3E codex... it may be the classic 'Eavy Metal style, but man are some of those figures goofy looking.) I also found the bases a great change of pace... everytime in the past I would just do some variation on 'scorched wasteland' look with a little dead static grass and very boring bases, but I decided to go big for my BA army redux after seeing some posts here and on B&C using sprue bits and such for brick work (and always being inspired by Insaniak's amazing sci-fi bases witht he multiple tiers and pipework). The photos admittedly aren't as crisp as I usually get them, as I was taking the photos in my college apartment in our kitchen with one overhead fluorescent, instead of the better setup I can get at home with better backing and light spread... I'll probably take some truer pictures when I'm home over Xmas break and update these.

That Chaplain is amazing. It's actually making me want to replace my jump pack Chaplain with a termy chapy. Hrm... maybe I could find the 135 points to add in a new one.
