I have been working on a variation of a theme with some hard hitting cc units taking 1 flank (tyrant, stealers, and cc fex) whilst the majority of my army sits back firing at range. Gaunts move forward slowly (with warriors) claiming objectives.
Have found with all variations that my cc fex tends to be ignored, and it always works in my favour. Last game I had he took out 2 rhinos and a tactical squad, scouring them from an objective and leaving it the only free one on the board. In another game it took out 10 sterngaurd, a razorback, and a rhino. He's there to dish dish the damage when my opponents deal with the tyrant and stealers first. I was originally outflanking the stealers but have discovered it just gives my opponents the first turn (sometimes 2) to deal with the tyrant then bring their firepower into play on the stealers the turn they enter. Essentially they are dealing with them piecemeal.

I originally had a dakkafex instead of the Heavy support shooty fex in there but in another post of a similar list I was advised to lose some uprades on the cc fex, so have done that and put in a shootier fex who can start shooting from turn 1 and has the ability to deal with tanks as well as infantry.

Also I should mention I play mostly against orks. Any suggestions? I know he likes to run a ten man nobz boyz squad with a painboy in a trukk and a warboss on bike with 5 other bikerz.

Those 40 scoring models are gonna go quick. I'd probably drop the zoanthropes and bulk up on the scoring gaunts. That's really my only problem with the list. Good luck man.

cheers, although thats why I have WoN. I have found that late game he had JUST enough firepower to deal with the 24 I previously had. I have added an extra 8 hoping to capitalise on that and with the extra shots from the 2 strangler fexes I was hoping to get in a few more kills.

i think KP missions are gona give you problems.


toxin sacks to make it strength 10 is redundant, and better spent somewhere else. so is the +1 initiative for the fexes. (initiative 2, hello?) and flesh hooks, (wow they can use their womping initiative 2 when assaulting guys in cover) with taking those upgrades from your 2 fexes you have 26 points +1 extra. thats 3 more gaunts. 35 gaunts all in all, and id try to divide them evenly such as, 11,12,12, rather than just 2 small units that can be wiped out with a round of shooting.

I2 Monstrous creature with 4 attacks VS 5 Termies with pwr fists. Do the math. I'd say drop the extended carapace and give it Crushing claws. (d6+1 monstrous creature attacks, for an average of 5) In a fight against termies (if you assault) that is 5 hits, 4 or 5 wounds with no saves, and at most about 1 wound (average).

My cc fex has the I upgrade against terminators and the like (anything with a powerfist). I hate going at the same time. I also upgraded his strength because it means he can deal with the only real threat to him in cc...a Warboss who has T5. Please remember this is from my personal experience against my regular ork opponent. He likes to charge my fex with a mob of boys to keep him in place while the warboss has time to react and then smash him up good.

To crazy_carnifex...unfortunately I have already modelled him, so no changing the arms unless its a proxy. Also, I dont like crushing claws very much. 33% of the time you will get less attacks than with the scything talons. Not worth the 25 pts if you ask me.

But anyway...thanks for your responses...I should be getting a game in tonight so will c how it goes...who knows, I might need to change a few things.
