I plan on doing a pretty big conversion project when I get home for xmas break and have some questions about techniques I have never used before. I plan on converting Lysander into another character.

1. What kind of dremel bit do you need to remove detail from metal? (I want all detail from his shield gone)

2. How do you make a greenstuff mold as I wish to be able to make shoulderpads from one master copy?

If you guys could answer these questions it would be greatly appreciated or direct me to posts that have the answer it would be great. Thanks

1) Engraving bit.

But you may be better off shaving with a knife then fileing flat by hand.

2) http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=green+stuff+mould&search_type=&aq=f

The three part tutorial is good.

Hope this helps.

ehh i dont like the knife idea. it takes WAY to long. i use 2 bits for removing things. the first i use (i cant remember the names of them now) is the one thats got some odd looking spirals on it to remove most of the detail. then when i get close to the actual piece i switch out for the find grit sand paper drum. those together work perfectly

For metal, I use jewler's files & sandpaper.

What do you guys recommend as the best mold release agent? And I am assuming that you have to wash the parts you just made with soap and water before painting? And I am trying to make custom shoulderpads, but am wondering how would i get the gap where the arm goes into?

Another Question
I know, now, that the best place to get brushes is at an art store rather than GW. But should I do for Primer stick with GW or switch brands? please be noted that GW is the only hobby store around, but I do have Michael's.

Just use the sand paper drum, I think it will do it. And for cheap and cool pads try casting from tin.

Yipes - I wouldn't go with the engraving tool - that requires a super steady hand. Maybe for removing some detailed parts, but for something like his shield or larger areas, the coarse sandpaper drum will take it off right quick and easy.
