Well the Tyranid army originally started this time last year with a purchase of a tyranid battle force. I had other tyranid models from the marcagge set which took them to about 1k worth of points, but like all other armies I wanted to get a dedicated 1,500 list then expand to 2,000.

The tyranid progress has been slow. It took me several months just to get the hormgaunts sprayed chaos black (which are still like that now). However with so many armies trying to be completed, and with a change of colour scheme the tyranids got pushed to the back of the queue as I got lists sorted for each army and worked on one army at a time, starting with Ultramarines.

My current coluor scheme (after looking at some cool Hive Tyrants on coolminiornot.com) is chaos black, with dry brushes fortress grey, a foundation grey for hooves, claws etc, bleached bone teeth and red eyes and green tongue to give colour. The carapace is painted then black ink and then 'ard coat to give it a reflective look, finally a wash of devlan mud of the body to give it a more detailed and less "dry" look, you can all see what film these tyranids are taking after lol.

So now that the Ultramarines are almost sorted, the Orks nearly completed and Chaos in for a new colour scheme and Necrons being finalised I purchased another tyranid battle force to make the army to all most 2,000 points. I need another two Ravenors and job is a good un - just will all need painting!

horde of gaunts & others I've recently built

This is the latest paint job on a Warrior & Lictor, you may not make out the devlan mud as its very subtle, but does give a brown tint

These are my HQ, the Broodlord is only used in 2,000 points and the paint job is a bit thick. The Hive Tyrant has wings as you can see, the twin linked death spitters are actually used as devourers as I didn't have any at the time

This is the big box full of bugs I have to sort out and paint. There are others not in this picture like some warriors, genestealers and possibly some carnifexs

With the Flash, all the pictures look pretty much like black base coated figures. Any nuances of your painting are lost in those images.

Also, it looks like a lot of the photos are badly out of focus, if your camera has a macro mode, I'd suggest using it (the toggle is usually a button with a pictogram of a mountain and a flower on it, the flower represents macro mode).

And, you may want to consider not hand-holding the camera, rest it on a solid object to eliminate shake since going to no flash means a longer exposure time, in which any shaking makes the photo rather blurry.

and if you dont have macro mode BUT have awesome zoom.. Tripod the camera, no flash, zoom in from your closest focus distance, and if you have a small lamp for directional light, you will be set.

Hive Fleet Gorgon, you say?

It's okay. Hive Fleets are big things. There's plenty of room.

I'm sure nearly every mythical creature has at least four separate Hive Fleets named after them.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

So it's Hive Fleet _______?

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Hive fleet unicorn? That sounds pretty badass to me.
Then again my favorite color is rainbows.
