Cpt Cato Sicarius
Chapalin Cassuis
(Or libarain with null zone & might of the ancients -for utility..which?)
= 300-325
Troops

10man tac squad
+las/flamer
+Pod
10man tac squad
+las/plas
+ Infiltrate -From cato
10man tac squad

5man tac squad

Ironclad
+drop pod
+storm bolter replacement h.flamer.
895
Fast attack
-----
5man vanguard vet squad
+Power weapon
+Drop pod
3man scout bikers
+locator beacon
+cluster mines
=280
=1500 (Or 25pts less w/ libarain)
Now this I like alot more. Does what I want it and has a very strong (I think) amount of troops w/ a nice amount of mobility. The weak point is def the scout squad but they can avoid fire quite well and hopefully I can get 1st turn more likely than normal - thanks to Cato. Scouts get next to a fairly nasty/vunerable squad & vanguard vets assualt and Cato possibly try to snipe the (usually pivotal) HQ/IC on the 1st turn. The mix of tac weapons is due to points & scrimping where nessicary.
Now, opinions & such but what I wanna know - Libarian or the Cassuis chapalin? (Hes got FNP, t6, re-roll on charge to hit (useful for vanguard vets using herioc intervention)

Nothing in this list, if I can infiltrate, Will be in my deployment zone @ the start of the game.
Why would you want this?
Achieving mission objectives is the most important issue.
First turn assault may work vs shooty armies.
But against armies geared towards assault you better stay out of hth.

I realised this was a bit of a useless list. Ive modifyed it slightly but ive kept the original flavour. I had an appifany at work.
What do yee think? Chapalin sp char or Libarian (Null & might useful powers? Am I missing more useful ones -which would work best with the units involved?)

Drop the lascannon from the drop pod unit, and give them a multimelta instead. Better use of points IMO, drop podding units very rarely have use for their heavy weapons.
Also, I don't think the second IC is going to be that helpful? You could buy a pred, or a whirlwind, or maybe another dread for that 125 points that might help you better than another character would. What squad would you put him in if you did? The drop podding squad?
Other than that, your drop pods do have locator beacons for the vanguard vets right?

Personally vanguard veterans if you so choose to use them should always have jump packs. Why give them a drop pod which negates heroic intervention?
Why a 5 man tactical squad in a razorback with no special weapon? If your going to push troops forward combat squad a 10 man and put the one with the flamer in the razorback and use the extra 90 points on more anti tank.
Regardless you have little to no anti tank in your army and 3 lascannons on marines does not make for good anti tank. A land raider or anything with AV14 is going to make you have a very bad day.
Taking this army how do you plan to deal with a horde or a mech army?

Heroic intervention is not negated by drop podding, but good call on the 5 man razor back squad.
I'd get rid of one of your special characters to get enough points for a 10 man tac squad. They combat squad, and one half sits back on an objective, shooting at stuff, the other races ahead and kills things.
Also, the squad in the drop pod should have a multi melta, if it has any heavy weapons, the las cannon is nice because of it's range, but since your deep striking into the enemy, range won't be a problem.
You need more anti tank, Virus is right when he says that 3 las cannons is not enough. My friend couldn't stop my Lr, Dread, Rhino, and vindicator with 3 las, 1 tw las, and could only stop my vindicator with an orbital bombardment, which you do not have, because Sicarius is not a master.
Take meltas, and melta bombs.

Heroic Intervention - Vanguard Veterans are famed for arriving at a time and place where their onslaught can make the most difference to a battle. If a jump pack equipped Vanguard Veteran squad arrives from deep strike, the player can elect for the squad to perform a Heroic Intervention before the deep strike scatter dice are rolled.... (it goes on but thats the crux).
His vanguard do not have jump packs and thus they cannot perform a Heroic Intervention.

Ah lame. Thanks for the heads up on locator beacons & pods, didnt notice that. & cheers for the advice on combat squading etc (can you get a razorback w/ a 10man squad by splitting half?)
Its an utterly defunct list - it also reads that if an IC is joined to the sqaud, then they also cant use this ability (Besides from having to use jump packs).
& Yea, needs AT although the point for using lac cannons over meltas is to penetrate that monolith (and LR at range) and a drop pod squad could get closer but a multimelta is heavy so cant be used when it pods in. Do you mean a normal melta & unleashing death to most things @ 12'' when they come in? The second IC libarain was to add in some useful utility ( MC anti-tank from might and anti inv saves from null zone)
This is why I post these lists up - to highlight minor faults (or list detroying conflicts ) so thanks.
- A gating termie list, with locator beacons on the drop pods could essentail entertain the same flavour.

No... when we said meltas, we... or at least I meant multi- meltas, and here's why:
NO heavy weapon can fire after drop podding so it doesn't lose any points there
Since, you're drop podding on the guy's arse, you will be in range as soon as you step out of the pod, no matter what.
The opponent will either have to charge you, or run away, either way making a decision that he would not normally have had to make
the multi-melta is free
the multi melta is much better at killing tanks

I play a necron player and the monoliths (probably overly) scare me into lascannon usage. But fair doos. Cant complain w/ free weapons.
