I got an early Christmas present of a new portable photo studio. I am still learning how to properly use the lights and diffuser box, as well as how to use my camera to take good miniature pictures. Anyway, here is my first picture taken of my Bad Moon Warboss. I plan on chronicling my Ork army as I get more done on it. I love how this model turned out!

UPDATE - I got some better pictures of the model. Here it is. There are more below as well!

Thanks,
Jeff

I have been looking around and I can't seem to find how to make images show up right in the post. Can someone please point me to where the directions are for this?

Thanks!

I tried that and it just gave me a red dot in the post. I read Yak's details as well and I still couldn't get it to appear in the post! I must have failed my Mek's Tools rolls...

Thanks for the comments!

Seconded!

Are they scratch-built or do they exist somewhere?

(Aspiring Bad Moon warbosses want to know!)

The back banner started as Gorthor's from WFB. I drilled out the moon from a Night Goblin standard and placed that on top of the center spike.

The glyph plates are from the old (and I mean old) plastic battle wagon (from the 80s). Those plates were 2 columns wide, so I cut them into smaller strips and attached them to the posts.

Thanks for the kind comments. I will have more photos of the first models of the army up in a few days. Plus, I have some WIP conversions to show you guys, including a Wazdakka!

Great to see some Bad Moon love. I need to get some more painting done on mine...

Looking really nice. If you're using a digital camera, you need to adjust your white balance setting to the type of light you're using.
So if it's a standard lighbulb, it'll be incandescent light (should be a lightbulb symbol).

White balance sets the type of light around to be the same colour temperature as day light. I.E. it corrects the yellow light of a bulb to look like the white of day light.

Thanks for the info! I will check out the camera settings this evening. It is a Canon, more of a point and shoot style (5 megapixel). It does have a bunch of settings, I just have to go through the menus and figure out which is which.

T_55 - thanks for the comments! I had fun with that base. It is one of the Dark Age add-ons that they recently released for their bases. I fit in on the GW style base (that is a 50mm one from the old VOR line) and used Apoxy Sculpt to add additional details and cover the joints. I am doing rubble bases for all my Orks (nothing like extra base work on a horde army!)

this guy shows a lot of improvement over your marines in white dwarf a couple years back...
i like the checks a lot, and everything looks crisp...

if you're usin' a pc to load your pics, and you're viewin' 'em in widows photo gallery, click on "fix" up top, and do the auto adjust...it's just a small thing, but it will get rid of the yellow tinge in your pic, so we can see more of the true colours...

keep it up...

cheers

Thanks! I am actually using a MAC, and I will be working with the future images in Photoshop to try and get the truest color possible.

The painting/gaming crew was over last night and they worked through the camera settings and helped me come up with a lot better ways to shoot the images. It certainly helps when you have so many people who used to/still work on White Dwarf to give you photo tips!

More images coming soon. I plan on shooting more tonight including better pics of the Warboss! In the meantime, here is one of his Mega Armored retinue.

The image is still a bit overexposed, but the colors and focus is getting better. I'll figure it all out soon enough!

I like the glyphs.
However, if you do any more Moons you gotta remember the black flames.

Those are way more proppa than checks!

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Love the paintjobs. The only thing I could suggest is to drill out the barrels on the guns; bullets don't come out of black dots.

I think you should give your Mega armoured retinue some glyph poles on their backs kind of like the mega armoured warboss but without the giant moon icon on top!

I have drilled out all the barrels on the plastic models, just hadn't done it on the metals. This has never been a huge concern for me, as I think that as long as you paint something on the weapon (like the black circles) it is accurately represented. To each his own!

Malika2 - I have been thinking about adding something additional to the Megas to go along with the warboss. I'll have to see what I can come up with!

Thanks as always for looking.

In his defense, bullets don't come out of plastic/metal models either..

Good to see nice bright yellows. None of this Iyanden Darksun rubbish. Any plans to do a battlewagon?

Yeah, I have some ideas on a Battle Wagon. I am probably going to use the new kit as a base, but try and customize it from there.

I had some ideas today at work on making a Deff Rolla out of some of the old large back wheels from the 80s version of the plastic battle wagon. I have the back wheels and all the little gubbins on a sprue from that kit, just not the rest of the model! Kind of a strange thing I acquired a few years back from a buddy of mine. Finally I will be putting it all to good use!

Everything looks really spiffy here to me. Lots of detail on the first boss. I also like your use of the old warboss instead of the stiff looking AOBR one.
