Does anyone know of a good source for a hole punch to use to make rivets out of plasticard?
All that I seem to be able to find have hole sizes far too large...
Thanks!

I have NO idea what this is called in english :(
Please enlighten me.
Basically it's a tool for punching holes in belts and other leather goods.

That's a leather punch, which is good for circles of various sizes.
For rivets I prefer smaller sizes, and use a buttonhole punch. Two 1/16" holes side by side doubles productivity when making rivets!

Thickest card I use is 0.4mm, and it does just fine. I imagine larger sizes might give a bit more resistance, caveat emptor.

and look in your local craft shop for punches designed for cardboard and paper - they come in smaller sizes (and also weird hole shapes, e.g. hearts, squares, nothing too useful for the average wargame modeller, alas). They'll only handle quite thin plasticard, but for rivets that's what you usually want

I found this tool to replace my lost sweet leather hole punch like the one pictured above, which is a hole punch tube that you use with a hammer. It sucks except for small amounts as you would go insane to make large quantities, but the punches are great and I strongly recommend them.

The leather punch is good for Orky rivets, having holes from 2mm to 4.5mm.
I punched out a ton of rivets in all the sizes from four different card thicknesses for my last Orky conversion.
Depending on the scale you consider 40K to be, these are very large rivets -- at 1/35 a 2mm rivet is 70mm across!
OTOH anything smaller is hard to handle.

I got mine from a Joannes Craft store, but I think any old craft store will carry one. For rivits, you want something that punches 1 mm circles.
