Hi, i've recently been painting up my Chaos army as Iron Warriors, however i've gotten a few figures in and now find that i detest the colour scheme entirely and now im lacking in inspiration of a new color scheme or how to paint them, i just wondered a) where you guys go for inspiration and b) do you guys have any pics of other Chaos Marine armies so i might be able to find something i want to paint,

thanks in advance

Get hold of the older Chaos Marine codexes. The older ones had more examples of different chaos chapters...

Wow......inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere. Is this is a trick question? What are you into? I've never limited ideas to things I read or see in codex books. I get ideas from movies, animals, or sometimes real life armies. Movies are particularly good, because they are so visual and oriented on color, just like models. If you just keep an eye out for it you can get inspiration from all over the place.

I don't play Chaos so I don't know about ideas specific for them, but what I like to do is a lot of experimentation. Some people do a test model. I do a dozen test models (or more). I'd strip the ones you have and just try out whatever interests you until a color scheme or chapter seems to start jiving with you. I don't know if that's the answer you were looking for but this helps me.

first thing to do is look at the 4 gods of chaos, pick the one that suits your style of play best, then look at the established armies for that good and see if you like any....if not you can always use the space marine painter to see which colours you like the look of best and paint them. there is no right or wrong.

not really, i'm just not feeling the army at the moment and have no motivation to paint it what so ever and was looking for a few ideas from some people around here to see how they like to paint chaos stuff, or where they get their inspiration from

in regards to me i do watch alot of anime and computer games, and to be fair football (but chaos marines in Liverpool Football Kit would just look toooo wierd), ive been scouring my games library for something suitable that might inspire me but still come up short,

i know their is no right or wrong i am just looking for oppinions

Right. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, I just didn't 100% understand the question.

If you have or can get a hold of White Dwarf 313, there's an article on a Khorne Terminator Lord that caught my eye. It's different than most Chaos stuff, very minimal. An entire army could be done like that. I tried to find it on the interweb but couldn't. It's probably not worth your time if you don't already have the magazine but it's one of my favorite Chaos models.

I think a White and Gold custom chaos chapter would look absolutely awesome, especially if you made at least part of the model extremely derelict and worn (as if chaos was eating away at their "pure" colors). Perhaps with a red WHFB Warriors of Chaos style cape on most of the models?

I've had this idea for a while, but it's not really worth it for me to invest in an entirely new Chaos army, as I already have far too many of them for my own good. I'd love to see this scheme done some justice though.

Honestly, there's not too many primary colors that haven't been used in some way for a main Chaos Chapter (And the look of the models almost always require some kind of metallic color, so that's too bad in a way). I've lowered it down to orange (unless of course you count the unused Sons of Purgatos), Dark green (Unless you count fallen angels), Turquoise (Which I admit would look strange), and Purple (Unless you consider Soul Drinkers to be chaos, which they aren't).

I entirely agree with using at least one test model to screw around with until you find something you personally like a lot. Instead of just thinking of a color scheme, try first to come up with a modeling concept (even a small one) that makes your Chaos unique. That always helps me, and probably explains why I have faaaar too many ideas that I'll never be able to execute.

Thanks for the advice, that was most interesting to read,

i'm not much of a converter to be honest, considering the amount of time i have been doing the hobby i havent delved into converting at all, probably a shame really i can do daemonic skin okay but thats about it, so i was more looking on different colour schemes, at the moment nothing has caught my eye, i've even been looking at my warhammer chaos book to see if that had anything but i really doesnt, i was thinking prehaps something like harkanors reavers, but i think my painting skill isn't good enough to pull that off nicely, unless anyone can think of a tute or something,

still thanks for the replys guys
