Any idea on where I could find a suitable bit to work as the round ammo holder on the bolter as seen here:

and here:

Would something snipped off of the Nobz from Black Reach work?

I've also seen references to some stuff in the Imperial Guard range? Maybe off of a grenade launcher (though I wasn't aware that they came in plastic)?

Any and all help (and pictures) will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You could use the ink holder tube thing from cheap pens to make little ammo drums

You can try cutting the drum barrels of some ork shootas...

Yup, ork shootas or IG autocannons would be the easiest options.

The AoBR Nobs might work, but I think their ammo drums are a bit small... I'll dig one out and have a look when I have a little more coffee in me...

Actually, I was thinking that IG autocannon ammo drums might work best:

Does anyone with any of them handy agree?

I can't remember if it was specifically for that marine, but I've seen a tutorial somewhere on scratchbuilding drum mags like that. Not the easiest thing in the world, though, so you wouldn't be able to equip mass quantities of troops with them. Not unless you were very, very patient...

And the IG autocannon drums are way too big for that, sorry.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I've seen people use the spare hubcaps from the marine bike to make them.

The hubcaps are the best for imperial space marines.
id only use the ork shotta drums for chaos or equally ghetto space marines

The IG heavy weapon sprue has them, As mentioned before it for an autocannon

The IG Autocannon bit is definitely WAY too big to work in this case.

Still looking into bits from the Ork range and also the IG plastic grenade launcher as well...

Anyone have any to try out for me?

IG grenade launcher is better than the autocannon drum, but is also way too big. As aka_mythos and glowgos have said, the bike hubcap is the right size for it.

Hm. I may be wrong. Check this pic here:

(Don't ask me why it also has a clip coming out of the top as well)

I swear there's a tutorial around for some really good looking hubcap-style drum mags, but I can't for the life of me find 'em now.

It's killing me that I can't find the tutorial - here's a pic of a mag from a Chaos Terminator:

Thanks for the pics!

The grenade launcher drum actually looks OK to me.

And the Chaos Terminator drum isn't half bad either!

Anyone with any pictures of the SM Bike Hub Caps?

I just checked out a SM bike sprue.

I'm just not seeing what is on there to use to turn into a round ammo drum.

Can someone help me out?

Its on the Attack Bike sprue. The best bet for that is prob the Sisters upgrade sprue from their vehicle kits. They have a Drum fed Stormbolter on it.

Really?

I'm still not seeing it...

And that drum fed stormbolter on the Sisters' sprue is nice.

But really, really expensive to acquire in numbers too!

Old Attack Bike sprue had one for sure, its used on the outside of the wheel on the side car.

Easy way to make your own is to get some solid Plastic tube, cut it to the proper length, then take some really thin plastic card and give it a wrap to give some depth to it.

I wasn't aware that the Attack Bike sprue had changed, so maybe that's it? Maybe I've got a new one?

Either way, I think I'm going to try and go with Imp. Guard grenade launcher magazines. Maybe a bit on the big side, but they should be OK and they'll get me close to where I want to go with the least amount of pain...
