I am always thinking of ways to sacrifice my own men, as any good IG commander should.

One way which I thought might be interesting is what I call "Fire on my location!"

Any IG Officer who is in base to base with an enemy model (IC, with the Leadership ability) may, at the start of the IG players shooting phase, take a Leadership test in order to allow IG Indirect fire to target the Officer.

The center of the indirect *must* be placed upon the Officer and then scatter as normal.

The idea would be that the Officer is calling down fire on his overrun position. It would only work on a protracted combat (shooting phase comes before assault phase, so it would have to be an assault that is still going from the previous turn). Damage should be pretty much equal in that it is targeting the Officer and not the enemy units. I have always been dismayed by the fact that IG commanders can not fire into their own melee. This would give us that ability albeit in a limited fashion.

Thoughts?
