Hello there folks! We`ve added pre-release sets of jump packs to our online store. Each jump pack is provided with optional engine exhaust flames:

Hate to be the spoil sport, but could these constitute a breach of GW's IP? Their Pre-Heresy packs look just like this, but they havent made any suitable models for them.
That said, I will probably pick up a few to use for that exact purpose

Don't really like em. They are slightly too big in comparison and the sculpting is not clean enough.

Hmm, they would make great pre-heresy jump packs. Might have to pick some up.
And seeing them on a model would be nice.

Well, there ARE the onld turbo fan JP's that GW usd to produce in pewter. I have a few that I will use on an Honor Guard unit (someday). They look a HELL of a lot like these. Also, have issues with sculpt cleanliness.

That kind of bugs me. As someone who does some sculpting, I'd be kind of offended if someone had said that to me. I wouldn't respond either, since it seems whiny, and I guess that's why przemas didn't say anything. But I'll say it now so he doesn't have to: That's rude. Quoting a specific feature would be ok, I guess, but just saying overall that it's not good is kind of rude, and I know I'd sure as read the rules be offended if someone put it that bluntly about one of my sculpts.
Just sayin'.

I think a part of the problem is that criticizing another poster's product to their face is a step above dissing "faceless" entities like GW, Rackham or Reaper. People aren't comfortable with just pulling out a list and really getting in there, no matter how the virtues of constructive criticism are explained to them.
If I were to guess what the original posters of those complaints might have been alluding to, the small rivets on the band around the upper edge of the cylinders don't look even, and the square panels around the nozzles look sort of rounded. But really, I'm just guessing here.

Hey, any way we can get a pic of the master model for that?
Anyway, as for specific advice, I'd advise two things for avoiding the problems Agamemnon2 points out. For things that need to be really straight and flat, and not get rounded, use plasticard. Secondly, for GS where you're going to need some holes or something, try letting it set partially before you poke them, and then cut the edges off so they're straight before you apply the piece. The ultimate way to avoid rounding of your edges is to make a whole bunch of small pieces and glue them on once they're set.
I think that's what some people around here are complaining about here, and it looks as though this was sculpted without waiting for it to set. If you make lots of smaller pieces, and use plasticard for any bits without indentation or anything, you'll achieve better results.
Nice sculpt, thanks for posting!!!

I´ve created quite my share of such small items and so I know how to do it better. If it was done just by a regular gamer, it would be OK. As a product that is sold for money it just isn´t up to the basic standards. Which is sad if you have a look on the fantasy minis sold on the website.
First problem is lines are not straight, which is bad in SF, second being slightly too large and third problem is the fact that parts are hinted at but not completly sculpted out. If I would be nasty I would point out that the flaps do not make any sense, but I think thats artistic freedom to put them there.

thx for comments folks! I don`t mind criticism .
@Duncan: I can see your point. If we decide to make mk2 jump packs we`ll take your comments into account.
The problem is that it`s quite difficult to have the same standard when you work with several sculptors. To be honest I agree that Jarek Smolka who did our minis could do this better (he raised the level considerably), but on the other hand when other sculptor brought me those jump packs I decided to release them as I quite like them.
Of course we can argue about flaps - for me they have some sense (by moving them you could position the engine in a different way). But I`d add them in other place . But Marek who did those couldn`t resist to make them this way after seeing Star Wars EP1 one more time .
@blinky: I seriously doubt it. These are simply 2 engines stuck together - in other words these are quite generic. Could GW sue Reaper if they find out that GW Elf and Reaper Elf have similar swords ?
Also I`m quite surprised that there were similar jump packs out there. These only proves how generic/universal this idea is. I`ll ask my buddies who own more artbooks and codexes than I have to find those pieces as I`d like to see them.
BTW - if you have any suggestions what we could do next / how we could change our existing items feel welcome to pm me. I`m always happy to hear some fresh ideas.
