I am just starting out at tabletop though I have been reading the books and playing dawn of war for a long time. I have always loved the thousand sons and there was no question in my mind that I would play them, but I really don't know what is viable and what is not. I generally play against either nids, grey knights, or orks.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

'Nids = You're Dead

Grey Knights = You're Dead

Orks = You're Dead

Sorry, but that's it. It can be difficult to imagine owning a large army at first, but if you don't have enough models you're better off playing smaller games rather than pumping a small force full of wargear.

I've always wanted to collect Thousand Sons, but their rules have always put me off.

more thousand sons troops for sure. you need the shots vs all those armys. i don't play chaos and don't know what those powers do but it looks like you need some anti tank. if the grey knight player brings a land raider how will you kill it?

Sorcerors make them cost alot less,they might do stuff.(I'd prefer the universal soldier that is a demon prince myself)

Thousand sons troop sorcerors are expensive and vulnerable (mass fire wound resolution etc), get the number of rubrics in a squad up and get them a movement mode, like a rhino.. (otherwise no one will ever be in flamer template range)

Thousand sons chosen don't exist in 5th ed (only chosen who have a banner/icon of tzeentch)unless your playing an apocolypse battle using the warcoven datasheet and if your houseruling bits of that I'd suggest 1ksons termies over 1ksons chosen.Although using an apocolyptic AP1 barrage as many times in a turn as you have sorcerors does look effective..I doubt folks will actually play you in a regular game if your upfront about it
Possessed are both bad and wrong.. in fact they are badong- throw in a gun servitor of change/gun spawn..obliterator.
Hope it helps

1KSons armies have a hard time now adays. Their greatest strengths (AP3 Bolters and a 4+ inv save) are rendered useless by the new cover rules. It is likely everything (including you) will have a 4+ cover save (so whats the point of your bolters when everyone gets a save and whats the point of paying for your 4++ save when you get it for free).

your list also isnt legally playable.

Your sorcerers are only allowed to have two psykic powers is they have the mark of tzneetch, which they do not. Your chosen are also not allowed to take any psykic powers at all.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

I can get more Berzerkers in a 1500 list. A lot more. And they cost about the same as Thousand Sons; about the same as any other Cult Marines.

Ok im guessing you have just started, well the best thing for you to do is go and buy a battleforce, and a squad of thousand son, and a Lord. Give the chaos marines a heavy bolter and plasma gun, the thousand son sorceror should have bolt of change, thousand son go in rhino, possesed walk or die and lord goes with possesed. We should not offer advice to someone who just started IMO, if you do not like possesed get some terminators, if you do run them, go to your local GW they will give you a tutorial game and some advice.

Its good to start off small, so start with a 750 list then build up.

Just my 2 cent.

This list is not going to work.
Start with one winged Daemon Prince with MoT.
Add two 9 men TS squads in Rhinos.
For the remaining points, take some tanks for shooty support like Predators. They can take away the fire from the Rhinos.

Keep the upgrades low. Shooty powers are your best friend. The army should be played so that the enemy can be held at arm's length.
