Chaplain with termy armor and storm bolter - 130

Termy assault squad 3x TH/SS, 2x Dual LC - 200

10 man tac squad with PF, LC, and rhino - 240

10 man tac squad with PF, plasma gun, plasma cannon, and rhino - 245

Predator with side sponson heavy bolters - 85

Attack Bike with heavy weapon option - 50

Attack Bike with heavy weapon option - 50

1000 points on the nose, if I mathed right >.>

Anyway, I don't really have the points to put the termies in a LRC in a 1000 point game. I think my best bet is to have them slog behind the rhinos the best they can. My Attack Bikes can go around and punch holes in armor, as my default setup for them is multimeltas on both I think. Anyway, drive the tactical squads up to an objective, set them up as big glorified walls, and use the Termies as a threat to pretty much anything that tries to get close to me, and the predator for anything that doesn't have the balls.

I'd take a Librarian with terminator armour and gate.
Give the Sergeants teleport homers and take a Assault Bikes in a squadron.
Then the list would be playable.

Gating will need locator beacons on drop pods or scout bikes. Teleport homers are for exactly that, teleporting.

Gotta love the cheap predators! I like it.

So, I am going to magnetize my weapons, and deploy them as I see fit. My original plan was having the terminators slog in under cover of the two rhino squads, but I do also want to test out the less weapons, more homing beacons approach, of rhino-ing at max speed to an objective, and then dropping in my terminators to mess things up. I'm also trying a mix of TH and SS and Lightning Claws. I'm thinking 3-4 TH/SS and 1-2 LC. I mean... on the charge with chaplain, they get 4 power weapon attacks each, they get to re-roll failed attempts to hit, AND failed attempts to wound. That gives them a pretty high chance of reducing the retaliation I'll get back before my Thunder Hammer guys knock their special characters silly, and instant kill their grunts on a successful wound (also re-roll attempts!)

Alright, I have a tactical squad thus far... plus rhino. I'm going to get the battleforce box for my second tactical squad + Rhino, plus it'll give me atleast one power fist from the RAS box. After that, I need to get my hands on the terminators... chaplain... bikes... and predator! Also, I need to maybe buy a devastator box, so i can actually have the heavy weapons options that I want for my tactical squads. I figure the two blister pack figures of a lascannon and plasma cannon would be about $20 anyway. So spending the extra on the dev box will give me a TON of extra bits and options without too much extra money.

I like it, but I really wish those termies were more mobile/able to get to grips with the enemy. Have you considered deepstriking them? Against really aggressive opponents you'll probably want them footslogging so they can smash things that come to your line but otherwise, they'll just be walking around for the majority of the game doing nothing (and that seems bad since with the chappy its like 1/3 of your army's points).

Multimeltas on the attack bikes right?

Definitely. I figure, if I want these guys to be anti infantry, I'd be better off going with a different unit entirely. Instead, I can put the turbo boost to use, zoom around behind enemy lines, and punch holes in their tanks. This gives my Rhino squads some peace of mind, and then I have a couple of high ap weapons behind enemy lines to wittle them down. They can either choose to waste their time blowing up the bikes, or getting to the objective.

Also, I'm not actually USING the devastator box. I'm getting it so I can drop in the lascannon and plasma cannon on the squad. I could just buy the blister pack troops with heavy weapons, but that's $24 or so right there. If I pay the extra (dev squads are what, $35?) then I end up having 3 extra bits worth of men, 6 more heavy weapons for future use, and a nice few centimeters of accumulation in my bitz box. Seems like a good enough deal to me.

Erm, you CAN fit a LRC for your Assault Termies in a 1k game, just drop the bikes, the predator, the power fists and the termie armor chap. Doesn't matter if they got ++3, they die the same when they're torrented by S4 fire in the open. Then suddenly your army doesn't look menacing anymore.

If you're gonna walk your termies at least use shooty termies.

Chaplain in terminator armor (T4 +2/++3) NO. Chaplain Cassius (T6 +3/++3 FNP) YES.
