Been spending most of my time painting commission work for other people (a mix of Eldar, Vampire Counts, Warmachine, and Hordes) but occassionally I need a break...so I've been working on finishing up a Kairos Fateweaver model.

Here he is:

Awesome freehand on the robes.
One small one, the foot claws look a little unfinished.

Good job!!!!!

Thanks - I think the foot claws are getting washed out a bit from the lighting...I wanted to make sure that the underside of the wings was lit, but I think a side effect of that was that there's too much light on the feet.

I used the bird head from a Chaos Spawn and mounted it in place on a long rod. I essentially used the rod as an armature to sculpt greenstuff around, and sculpted in the neck. After letting the neck dry for a day, I layered a bit more greenstuff on top of the neck, and sculpted in the feathers (pretty easy to do, actually).

Up close the feathers on one neck don't completely match the feathers on the rest of the model, but from tabletop distance, it looks okay.

Sculpting feathers is just a matter of adding a thin layer of greenstuff, and then using a hobby knife to sculpt it. First you use the flat of the blade to create a series of triangles/diamonds on the surface, then you use the edge to create a series of lines within each triangle/diamond.

Probably should have done WIP picks, but like I said, this one was something I worked on when I needed a break from assembly-line work.

)= i not tried yet using greenstuff, so i thinked about adding second head from original LoC box. Anyway i will try the way you said (= ie saw second neck, and put it with help of drill near the beginning of first neck, then cover holes by greenstuff.
