My name is Clay Williams from the Haawgs gaming group and volunteer 40k judge for Games Workshop. I just wanted to branch out to the community and answer any 40k questions you may have about how rules will more than likely be handled in the upcoming year. I know, as a gamer, it can be important to get your answers before you start the tournament season and get to work on your armies. I look forward to talking to you guys, meeting new gamers, and keeping in touch with those I have already met in the past 2 years.

Welcome, Clay.
We will appreciate your comments. I plan to field my Noise Marine army for the next GT season. This year I played mech Eldar. While the Heat (4th ed.) worked very well, I noticed that the army had a harder time in the final (5th ed.).

Thanks!

5th ed deffinatly changed the game for alot of us. I personally had to shelve two armies that I had won several awards with.

Overall I like the changes that were made. It is nice to see player trying new things.

A TON of reading.

The most important thing is knowing all of the codex's well enough to point out the rule to the player when asked a question, and to be able to do this fairly quick as time is important to both of them. Being able to stay calm when people get in your face and start passionately arguing with you is another good trait to have.

Myself and my best friend/co judge both own a copy of each codex, keep them at work, and routinely quiz each other on the rules just to try and stay sharp. We also visit websites such as this one to find new questions that we have not thought of.

We also play a lot. I have and still play: Necrons, Space marines (all flavors), Demons, Orks, Kroot Mercs, Tyranids, and Tau. He plays Space Marines, Guard, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Witch Hunters, and Demon Hunters.

As well as playing we try and help grow our home community by holding events for veterans as well as new players. I know you have heard of The Big Waaagh, that was all put together by 6 or 7 of the HAAWGS members, Donovan and myself included. There was also a TON of help from the HAAWGS grunts doing crap jobs for nothing more than appreciation and a few free pizzas.

That sounds great. I am also a judge from time to time and I always maintain an impartial stance when making a ruling. It really bugs me when people try to kiss up or whine that they do not like some particular rule and think it is unfair. I bet you must hear a lot of that.

Actually the worst thing I ever had happen to me was a guy quit in the fourth round because of a ruling I made.

The rule was simple - movement phase the guys opponent wanted to move 12 inches and join a Chaplin on a bike to a squad of terminators, which is fine. The problem for the guy was he had 4 carnifexes packed close together about 4 inches away from that squad of terminators with SS/TH and didn't want them to get wiped out. He made some really nasty comments, lied about a previous game, and stuck his hand in my face when I tried to show him the rule in the book.

Oh well, people get hot headed about the game sometimes.

OK that is wrong!

A link to a quick webpage I put together, dont judge my knowledge of HTML is noob as best.
