I'm sort of wanting a basic casual list that can't beat a tournament list, yet is fun to play against. Thoughts? Anyways to make it a suckier list, yet not look any suckier?

1 Flying Nurgle demon prince with no psychic powers

9 Chosen Chaos Space Marines with Melta x 2, Champ w/ Powerfist & Icon of Chaos Glory
1 Rhino for Chosen
1 Dreadnought with a Lascannon

7 Nurgle Marines with 2 x melta, Champ w/ Powerfist
6 Noise Marines with Blast Master, Champ w/ Powerfist
8 Khorne Beserkers 2 x plasma pistol, Champ w/ Powerfist
9 Tzeentch Marines, Sorcerer w/ Bolt of Change

1 Defiler but no extra weapons
5 Raptors Flamer & Melta Gun, Champ w/ Powerfist & Icon of Chaos Glory

I've avoided most of the winning combo's, I don't have a plethera of template weapons, yet I still have 2
I don't have a ton of special weapons and the ones I do have a pretty limited range, and no psychic stuff.

I really don't understand what your asking us.

What do you want us to do to improve this list? Do you want us to add non-competitive but fun elements to it? Do you want us to improve it's capability to win but not by adding competitive elements like Lash? Do you want a list that will be fun for an opponent to tear apart? Or do you just want us to give you a thumbs up because you said casual a few times?

If your looking to build a fun list that isn't competitive on purpose, don't build that. Especially if you don't already have the models. Something similar but fun would be, IMO (and don't take this for solid truth, because after all it's opinion) better.

Abbadon 275

7x Nurgle Marines with 2 x melta, Champ w/Powerfist 221
Rhino 35
6x Noise Marines, 5x Sonic weapons, 1x Blast Master 185
Rhino 35
8x Zerkers, Champ w/ Powerfist 208
Rhino 35
8x Tsons, 1x Sorc w/ Doombolt 254
Rhino 35

Chaos Dread, ML/DCCW w/ Heavy Flamer 105
Chaos Dread, ML/DCCW w/ Heavy Flamer 105
Chaos Dread, ML/DCCW w/ Heavy Flamer 105

8x Havocs, Champ w/ Combi-Flamer, IoCG , 4x Melta 195
Rhino w/ Dozer blade 40
6x Havocs, 4x ML 170

It provides a unit of each Cult Marine, with a rhino for survivability and mobility. It adds Abbadon for a little punch but not to much power and a good fluff reason to have all the cult troops in. The Chaos Dreads can all be run effectively against hordes or tanks and do minimal damage to your own stuff when they do something unexpected a third of the time. The Melta Havocs want to drive up and waste some tanks or some hard troops and the ML havocs want to sit on top of a building and take care of business. It's very well rounded very fun, not super competitive but doesn't roll over to anything someone just throws onto the other side of the table.

It's a good list. Looks competitive, but isn't super competitive. Can win with some work and strategy.

it look slike an alright list but it will probably will depend on what type of games you enjoy, do you like to haev a close battle where even the most basic desicions or dice rolls will make a big difference, do you like to laugh as your army falls to pieces around you or do you like to see which army list will win with the right amount of generalship applied to it??

Typeline:
What I mean is... I want a list that looks like its good, but in reality isn't all that great. I want to make a list that will look fun, look like it can handle everything, but in reality gives other people who aren't competitive a decent chance at winning. I hate playing and throwing the game as I'm playing to keep the battle even. I figure if I play with a list that has some serious flaws, such as lacking a million templates and lacking the lashes of torment I'll have a challenging game ahead of me. I figure the general environment at my game store is lax, and I really like challenging games.

I have 3 dreads, I have all the models needed to field everything in the chaos codex, I do however lack any and all special characters. Otherwise I would agree that Abadon would be great to field, he's over price and slow he's a great points sink and would be inefficient to fieild, which is what I am shooting for.

Kormas: If this list would fall apart around me and pull off a tie in the end by the skin of my teeth I would be very happy.

Well, Chaos armies are usually not fun to play against.

If you want a fun list, I'd go with Fabius Bile. He sucks but is a fluffy choice. Moreover, I'd take normal CSM squads instead of Cult Marines; this will make your opponent feel better.

wuestenfux: how could you ever say that

i agree with dropping the cult marines though in favour of the normal marines, the thousand sons will make any MEQ army you verse cry with pain, though feel free to use them against hord armies. the normal marine is weak and is not realy that good. also try spawn and possessed. the spawn are almost without doubt the worst unit in the chaos list and possessed are so random that some games they will be awsome and in others they will suck

Tsons don't really make anything cry. Everything has cover. So for a Tson to actually get to use his shots a unit would have to run out in front of them and decide to take a ton of casualties instead of go to ground and get an armor save.

Yeah, get some Spawns and the unpredictable Possessed as Kormas suggested.

I ran a unit of 3 spawn. Amazing, that's really the only word that'll describe how I feel about them now... Its Amazing how bad they are. I had a spawn get killed by Guardsmen.... in COMBAT!!!. WTH!

Possessed however after playing them, I think they are amazing. My first game they acquired Fleet. I ran them into the center of the board, and they survived 3 turns of a lemon russ demolisher, a leman russ, and 4 or 5 guardsmen squads shooting them. In the last 2 turns they ran through a hellhound, and waltz up to my opponents objective and knocked out a unit of guardsmen that had been sitting on it since turn 1. Then the last 2 of them died. In all i gave up nearly my entire army.

The game was won however by running a rhino onto the opposing objective, after the rhino blew up, my guys just sat there taking 4+ saves. Rhino FTW.

2nd game the possessed got power weapons, my opponent was playing sisters of battle, so while the possessed were awesomely equipped they were negated by the SOB's acts of faith to get invulnerable saves. I really like possessed.

sazzlefrats: hmm, seems like you have had some good luck with possessed, i agree that they can be absalutly spectacular and can kill everything that they find but in other games they will get the wrong tools for the job, for example: power weapons versing an ork hord, or scouts, or, depending on your luck, rending. overall possessed can be a fun unit that is awsome or they can be a crap and just be a waste of points, it will make any game fun to see what your possessed can do
