Today, I battled Benny's Tau. Benny is an Afghanistan veteran.

Red Ravens:
Captain (Lysander rules)
Codicier w/ terminator armor, storm shield
10 Termies w/ cml x2
2x10 Tacticals
10 Scouts w/ ml, sniper rifle x5
2 Attack Bikes (squadron)
3x Predator w/ heavy bolters

Benny's army:
Commander
3 Crisis Suites
2x3 Stealth Suites
3x12 Fire Warrior squads
1 Pathfinders + 1 Devilfish
10 Kroots
3 Broadsides
2 Tau Sky Rays

Deployment in quarters, kill points.

There was a large building in the centre and a forest in each quarter.
RR deployed in the SW quarter and Tau opposite in the NE quarter.

First turn - RR:
The Librarian gated the Termies incl. the Captain in front of the Tau army. Nice move.
The Scouts were infiltrating in the NW quarter with good TLOS to the Tau army, while the Predators moved 6'' side by side so that they could eventually target the Tau army bunched up in their NE quarter.
One Tactical (with ml, flamer) entered the central building and the other Tactical (with ml) stayed in cover (forest) in the SW quarter.
The Assault Bikes zoomed down the flank into the SE quarter.
The Termies opened up fire and killed the Crisis Suites.

First turn: Tau
The whole Tau army targeted the Termies. Ouch. I had some really bad rolls. In particular, I took some wounds to the Captain (as an eternal warrior), but failed almost all critical roles. After the dust cleared, 8 Termies were dead plus the Captain. A moment of mourning.

Second turn: RR
Two Termies (with cml's) and the Librarian were left. The Librarian tried to cast avenger but suffered from a warp attack (double six). He was able to charge the Kroot, while the Termies shot one FW squad with the cml's and charged it. The Predators advanced towards the Tau positions shooting the Broadsides which fled from the battle ground. The Termies took down the FWs while the Librarian stayed in the melee.

Second turn: Tau
The two Termies got killed while the Librarian stayed in cc. One (marker lighted) Predator got popped by a Sky Ray.

Third turn: RR
The Librarian was still in the melee with the Kroot. The Predators managed to shoot a FW squad supported by the Tacticals killing a FW squad. The Assault Bikes maneuvering around the forest charged one Stealth squad killing it at first sight.

Third turn: Tau
The Librarian got killed by the Kroot. Another moment of mourning. The RR's shock & awe unit was dead. One Predator got stunned, nothing critical. The Devilfish with Pathfinders (disembarked) moved towards the Scouts into the NW quarter supported by the Commander and one Stealth squad.

Forth turn: RR
One Predator managed to stun a Sky Ray. The Scouts with ml and sniper rifles caused several Kroot casualties and the Kroot fled from the battle field. The Tactical in the central building was able to target the Pathfinders, killing 1.

Forth turn: Tau
The Sky Rays popped another Predator, while the Commander, Pathfinders, Devilfish, and Stealth took the Scouts under fire. But the Scouts held their ground.

Fifth turn: RR
The Scouts moved out of cover to charge the Pathfinders and the Devilfish. With the help of the Tactical in the central building the Pathfinders got destroyed and the Devilfish got smoked. The Scouts consolidated behind the Devilfish for decent cover.

Fifth turn: Tau
The Tau army basically targeted the last Predator and the Tactical in the central building, but without much success.

Sixth turn: RR/Tau
The Scouts stayed behind cover while the Tacticals and the Predators opened up fire. But the FWs and Sky Rays held their ground. The same vice versa. The game ended here.

Kill points: RR 7 and Tau 6. Thus RR managed a marginal victory.

Summary: I was surprised to see the Termies die in two turns of Tau fire. However, the four players watching the game admitted that I rolled really badly.
The downside of my army was the low mobility. Next time, I eventually take Rhinos for the Tacticals. The Tau army was so busy shooting the Termies that the Rhinos should have been able to approach the Tau front ranks unhindered.

That's a strong list you have there. A bit slow but solid. Kinda weird he would take 2 skyray's as they are the weakest Heavy slot by far. Nice report though sounds like a good game.

Indeed, my army was lacking mobility (other than the gating Termies). Next time, I'll take Rhino squads.
