Im doing some leman russes and have been hovering around the boards looking for ideas.. Most people say that if your doing the standard leman russ, you should go with a heavy bolter as a hull weapon? Is that true? And does anyone have a pic of a leman russ with a hull heavy bolter.. cause Im thinking thats what I wanna do and need ideas on how to get it..

Also I have a chimera and the turret area keeps popping off.. I was thinking about just glueing it into place but was wondering if the gun has to swivel if your playing a tournement?

Last question I swear.. I have a model Im working on.. its a IG SGT... Im kinda partial to SGTs cause I am one.. so they get more love then my HQ.. anyways.. I got him on a SM Termie base cause hes kinda standing on a dead renegade and it was to big to fit on anything except a termie base.. I was wondering if I could use him in an official tournement? When I play its usually with friends and they dont seem to mind the bigger base.. but I wanna start hitting some tournements and was wondering if hes gonna be a problem?

Since neither a heavy bolter or a lascannon count as a defensive weapon the only way either of them will be fired is if you 1) Don't move or 2) Lose the battle cannon. Therefore it's wise to keep the points cost down and take the cheapest weapon (the heavy bolter).

Yes, you will need the turret to swivel. Just use a little bit of blu-tac to hold it in place if it's a problem.

According to the rules, you need your opponent's permission to mount a model on any base other than the size base it came with. As long as you're only doing that for artistic license and not for an in-game advantage you should not have a problem with it.

So all the guns on the vehichle have to swivel or just the main ones?

If they're designed to swivel, then they need to swivel. If they're not, then they don't.

Thanks, I know that probably was a stupid question.. but I had to make sure.. I might go and try finding some mini magnets.. that would probably keep the turret on tight, allow it to swivel.. and allow for some turret modifications... like putting a predator turret on a chimera hull..

thank you

BRB pg 59.

Talks about vehicle guns and turrets. It gives you the weapons arcs.
It is not a problem if they are glued down.
Some tourneys could have different rules though.

Who are all these people, and why aren't they dead?

Don't be surprised if things change for the IG with the new dex. Too many rumors to truly ignore. Basically what a Russ uses as a defensive weapon. Just saying....

By the rules you measure Line of Sight for vehicle weapons from the bottom of the weapon mounting, along the weapon's barrel, and then continue on to the target unit, If you're vehicle is unable to point it's weapon at an enemy unit then strictly speaking it cannot get line of sight to that unit.

While most people wouldn't mind, it's in your best interest to make turrets that will rotate.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

BRB pg. 59 "....players should assume that the guns on a vehicle are free to rotate or swivel on their mountings."
Granted you will have less arguments if they swivel, but by RAW should be treated the same even if glued in place.
