Hell all,

I received 3 killa kans for khristmas. 2 in blister w/40mm bases and 1 in box with a dreadnought sized base. Which are these supposed to be on or is it my call? The army book pic shows them overflowing off of 40mms and the box pic shows it on the gigantic base. This really has tactical ramifications so I'd like to know so I'm not getting hosed nor hosing my opponents. Quick, quick, I want to assemble them!!!

Thanks!

The land of cotton.

Given that the boxed set is a later release than the blisters, it would seem the 60mm base is the way to go.

All the rules say on the issue is that you base them with the bases supplied with the model and if you change bases you let you opponent know. In other words both are perfectly fine based with the bases included, and you can also feel free to use other bases (for consistency amongst the mob say) but you're supposed to advise the mate you play with .

I had the exact same problem,I got 3 Killa Kanz for Christmas,2 boxed 1 blister,I had some extra 60mm bases so I did the whole sqaud with them.

"tactical ramifications"? Really? All measurements are from the edge of the base, so only very rarely [side shot, etc] would something not be in range that would otherwise, and that's a very close call. In close combat everything within 2" of a model in base contact with you gets to attack so rarely will the "you can get more models around a dreadnought base" line really matter. And if someone ends up outside of their melta range, tell them to look on the bright side - they're also just barely outside assault range!

For consistency's sake, I'd say get some dreadnought bases and use those. It just looks better and gives you more opportunity to make them look good.

I would like to get a definite answer for that, because I rather build my won Killakanz, and smaller bases are easier to transport.

The answer is to put them on the base they are supposed to be on. I always change bases when they change.

1850 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1000 and counting

The definite answer is covered on page 3 of the rulebook.
You should put them of what they came with.

Practically as they have come with either 40 mm or 60 mm bases you can put them on either of those and claim that's what they came with.

So it's a choice really. It's the same with terminators and jetbikes.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

So how do you tell if someone got that base. I know some people that would say they came with one and put them on another one. They do this just to get an advantage.

If you leave something up to integrity it is going to fail. If you put them on the base they are supposed to be on then all is fair.

And how do you tell which base they are "supposed" to be on?

It doesn't matter which base the models came with in these situations because they are also available with the other option, it doesn't matter if I buy the boxed set with 60mm bases and mount them all on 40mm bases, whether it's for advantage or not, because if I bought the other set, I would have gotten 40mm bases with it.

I don't understand how people can take offense at the idea of changing the base size for advantage in this situation when it's merely your choice of kit representing the same thing which consigned you to a certain one.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

I guess that I'm surprised they're coming with 60mm bases now, the 40's seem more appropriate since it's a smaller walker.

I don't mind the 60mm base, it helps them get into CC quicker

This is why it's my oppinion and practice that if a new base size comes out for a model that I change over to it. This way people don't have the arguement that I'm trying to get over on them. I also put a base on my defilers so there are no arguements.

It is sad state of affairs if this is the types of players you game with. The rules are pretty clear and this seems to be more of a question about what kinds of advantage/disadvantage one can garner during a game with specific base sizes.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
