Just something I was discussing over lunch in the store, which we weren't entirely sure of.

You see, the Spider Banner gives all Gobbo's in the unit Poisoned Attacks, both ranged and combat.

So what happens if (and indeed, when) I attach it to a Spear Chukka? I can't find anything clear in the rules. Does it gain the Poison, as it is fired by Gobbo's, or does the firer really not matter, as the Spear Chukka is a Spear Chukka, and not a Gobbo.

You see, I think it's a matter of abstraction. After all, Bow armed Gobbos still launch poisoned arrows with it, despite it not, strictly speaking, being the Gobbo making the attack. Yet as I mentioned, the Spear Chukka isn't just a hand weapon or bow, it is a seperate model, with it's own profile. But still, you use the Gobbo's BS to fire.

I mainly ask because I think it could be a real giggle, especially if I roll a 6 to hit when firing enfillade into some Chaos Knights, as an entire rank is removed!

That is interesting.. 6 to hit with a poisoned bolt.. no clue about what happens there.. I suppose it auto wounds the 1st but what about the rest?

Whats the exact wording of the banner?

Well, I can't be 100% sure as I don't have the book to hand, but it states all Goblins in the same unit gain Poisoned Attacks, and it specifically mentions both ranged AND combat...

And since any poisoned attack which rolls a 6 to hit automatically wounds, ALL ranks would suffer the autowound, turning my Spear Chukka into a devil of a killing machine with every other hit....

I suppose it works because it's really hard to prove it doesn't. The gobbos fire the bolt so why wouldn't they lace it with poison first?

I dont think this works because - as mentioned - a Spearchukka isnt a gobbo.
The Banner gives poisoned attackes to every Gobbo in the regiment not to any warmashines.
Besides that, why would you put that banner into a Spearchukka Crew? Give it to Nightgobbo Spiderriders to get the most out of it.

Largely pointless giving it to Spider Riders, as they already have some poisoned attacks.

Rather put it in a nice big lump of Stikkas....with the notoriously crap Gobbo BS, ought to make a real mess out of enemy units!
