After an unpleasant incident with a pot of Vallejo Russian Uniform, I was wondering if anybody has had any success in removing acrylic paints from carpets? I have managed to spill a number of times over the years, but have never had success removing the spills. Has anybody had any success, and if so, what methods did you use other than getting a rug or moving furniture on top of it? p.s. dont tell my wife!

Tied and gagged in the back of your car

I used some carpet cleaner that we bought from the cleaners we have. Works wonders, got rid of the stuff in seconds, no stain.

If you know any maid/cleaning services in your area, call them up and see if they might have what you need.

I read the thread title and said "uh-oh" in my head...

Worry not, I have a solution.

For me I have spilled paint on carpets and on bed sheets (late night painting before a GT). And successfully got them clean again.

I use Oxyclean. You know that stuff the annoying guy on TV sells? You can buy it at Wal-Mart now in the cleaning supplies section.

It also cleans any stains from paint on your clothes

o_o i have thought of using that before actually.

my mom used those carpet steam cleaner and it failed
so she said oxy clean wouldnt possibly work then.

but thanks i'll give it a try definately.

what do i do with the oxyclean btw? just pour it on the spot and scrub it with brush?

how do i suck up the liquid? im worried it'll wet the wood beneath and grow moulds ><

i have actually considered removing all carpet from my rooms ...
if i knew how or its not overly expensive

you can apply a lot of water and suck it up with a wet/dry vacuum, you have to catch it before it drys, if you let it harden the only way to remove it is cutting it off.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

That's why I generally avoid carpet when modelling. My most recent incident cost me a bit of my last bond when a clogged tube of superglue suddenly relieved itself all over one of my hands and the carpet. I had been squeezing it a bit, gave up, was on my way outside with it... yeah. Doomed.

Oh fo rthe love o fthe sweet baby jesus don't ask how I know, but Electrolux sells this carpet shampoo (along with 3,000 dollar vacuum cleaners) that takes friggin anything out of carpet. I have taken pen ink that was 4 years old out of carpet with this stuff. It's ridiculous what it takes out of carpet. I have no idea about paint. You can look in the Yellow Pages to see if they have a store in your town, prob. do. Give it a go, it's better than the Wrath of SWMBO.

replace the carpet, making sure you get a new colour that you can match with one of your paints, so if you spill paint on it next time..you can paint over it

two products you can use oops! Or goof off. They both will work but use only a little at a time because depending on the age/ quality of a carpet. Also krud cutter can be used but it is weaker. You can also soak the carpet in brake fluid for a week

LOL, just say no to the brake fluid on carpet idea. Few individuals like the smell of rotting fish coming from their floor and She Who Must Be Obeyed will Not Be Pleased.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
