This is a post to answer a request to post some pics of my guard. I actually had lined up all of my imperial forces up and taken shots of them a while back so here are the shots of the guard from that shoot.

Sorry, I don't have just a shot of the guard company only.

1st Platoon

2nd Platoon

3rd Platoon

Hvy Platoon

Veterans

Stormtroopers

HQ

Commissars

Rapier (Apocalypse only these days!)

Thosa Regulars (a PDF I've been working on very slowly)

Thosa Conscripts (these guys are going even slower now that the new FAQ has kind of hurt the commissar led conscript units)

These 2 shots were taken at a later date!

It looks like a intimidating army to face!! Nice work. My guard army is a small fraction of you beast. But it helps me to see what mine can do when I get further along. Lots of good conversions in there.

They are made from the Bull Ogre plastic set for Fantasy. Their belly plates became shoulder plates, and their weapons are a mix of the Sentinel hvy flamer and a grenade launcher.

Hehe! as H.B.M.C wrote recently NO guard army is ever finished. For me, that holds true for any armies I build. I just won't allow the shameful unfinished models to pose alongside the finished ones though.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

For some of them, I would just cut the Cadian arms at the elbow to fit into the socket on the Bretonian tunic. For others, I would just cut the shoulders off of the Bretonians so that the entire Cadian arm set could fit on just like it does the IG torso. A few are a mix of green stuff and other arms.

Well, some of you may recognize some of the models in the "Veterans" pic as some of the origional IG minis so that should be the tip off. For those that don't recognize them they're about 20-something years old. Honestly though, almost all of this stuff was built in the last 5 or so years after I took an extended hiatus from the hobby.

I don't know if I understand the question. In most battles it's worth 1500 to 2000 points, but I'm constantly changing my lists around because that's what the voices in my head tell me to do. Are you asking what is the maximum amount of points I can push into the army is? Because I've never actually fielded all of the IG stuff on the table at one time unless it was in an Apocalypse game so the FOC would have been illegal in a normal battle. Also, even though I field a few tanks in most games they are technically a seperate force (Armored Company), so in the Apocalypse games the points don't quite match because of the command and ace tanks.

If it helps though, in most games I start with a core list and work up from there:
1st Platoon
JO with Storm Bolter and 4 guardsmen with 2 Plasma Guns
3 squads with Plasma Gun + Light Infantry and Vet Sarge with Bolter

2nd Platoon
JO and 4 guardsmen with Lascannon
3 squads with Missile Launchers

3rd Platoon
JO and 4 guardsmen with Heavy Bolter
2 squads with Heavy Bolter

816 points

Very cool. Like the use of the Rogue Trader era guys for the Veterans. Can you tell us more about the Rough Riders?

Thanks, but the rough riders aren't anthing too special.

They're just the Gryphon Legin Riders (I think) from the WHFB range. I just clipped the spike off of the top of their helmet and glued on some IG bits and called it good.

I like them... The paint scheme and design is a weird mix of medieval and modern looking.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.
