well i played agianst an ig army for the first time and i underestimated it,but i still won anyway

500 points
annihilation



my army:space marine captain with power wep, storm bolter, and bionics 90 points
2X10 space marines:normal 300 points
(shocking but true) dreadnought: extra armour storm bolter, autocannon, and dread cc 110 points

500 points you have to understand i havent gotten the new codex yet i plan 2 but just havent found it.....

ig army: ton of guardsmen 3X groups
ig commander with retinue(he had a sucky commander)
3 heavy support groups all with heavy bolters......supposedly they were in limit
leman russ(biggest threat)


deployment: i get a 3 while he gets a 2 so i deploy first on the right side of the map where i place my dreadnought and my 20 space marines with a captain who has bionics power weapon and a storm bolter all of them in the middle of my deployment areadread in the fron with my 2 space marines squads flanking also he my captian was in the lower squad flanking the dread

his army is spread all over his side with the leman russ in one cornerand his heavy support in the other

turn 1
HE STEALS THE Initiative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he doesnt move but fires his leman russees battle cannon taking down 3 space marines
his heavy weapon teams takes down 1 more thanks to my luck in dice i saved 4 marines

my turn:i retreat my marines behind 2 buildings while running my dread runstowards his leman russ the only thing that can kill my dread also the leman russ is the only thing that can kill my dread too

turn 2: i get too look at his army list and he finds out that he isnt supposed to have the heavy support group with heavy bolters he gives back me my marine they killed and take them off the map little cheata!!!!

he fires his leman russ at my dread to see that he gets a crew stunned but thanks to my extra armour i get crew shaken oh and he didnt move anything

my turn i leave my space marines behind the walls waiting to see if we would win or lose it depended on the leman russ and dreadnought(who was taking on the whole entire army by himself) my dread runs even closer and gets in to contact with the leman russ yes.... 3 automatic pentration 1st weapon destryed took out his big battle cannon next crew shaken lastly my last dice said immobolized!!!!

last 3 turns
the ig a little shaken from my results charges all his guardsmen hoping to use his crack grenades so much that he immoblizes me by taking too many weapons away
doesnt work though i had all my weapons taken away and killed 10 guards men and he cut down a retreating guardsmen gruop who failed a morale test with my dread my space marines nvr got into combat or even shot a bullet my dreadnought had done it all


summary it was a fast game that was surprising with a few twists in it i was really happy to learn that people were shocked i could get a dread into such a small 500 point game and did not prepare too many heavy weapons against it
in the end i underestimated the guard by a on in the beggining but slowly realised they have potential guns with very cheap infantry that arnt that bad.











ps also can you have a leman russ in a army of 500 points and please post what you think of this army and how dreads are good in a small point army

Looking at what you said he has, suggests to me he had an illegal troops choice. At minimum he should have had 1 Command with 2 Squads and 1 Armoured fists squad, but I don't see a mention of either the Command platoon or Chimera, so yeh, illegal list.

You have an illegal SM army (4ed).

ya well ive been trying to buy the new codex so far and i to and he agreed it was ok but i cant find it at the shop i go to everybody else is buying it!!!!! so please dont blame me that much ok just wonering whats the difference between the moodels do they cost more or less???

Just having a junior officer and 2 naked platoons is 360 points. A Leman Russ is 145 minimum, which makes his army at least 505 points unless he used Grenadiers or an Armored Fist squad.

How did your dreadnought get in combat turn 2?

it was a 4x4 table and when i ran i got 6s both times

You also cheated when you assaulted after the run roll, if that is indeed what you did.

It sounds to me like you both need to read up on your rules and get more experience just playing the game. The IG character, for example, should be firing his platoon heavy weapons at the Dreadnought and using the Leman Russ to squash marines.

no i actually made a mistake my bad so sry the last 2 turns were long and i actually assualted on the third turn sry ill edit too tell people also i assualted on the third turn then on the 4 turn he assualted me on the fifth turn he gave up so my bad so sry rofl and his heavy platoon were all heavy bolter firing on 12 toughness basically or armour but also on 2nd turn he said that his heavy troopers were over the limit so he had to take away the heavy troopers and gave me back a space marine that died.

try ordering online or if all else fails, download a torrent file of the space marine codex.

not a very good report but nice try, as long as you had fun nothing else matters anyway it seems you guys need to add the points up a little better next time. and the new SM book is worth it.
