I am an ex- GW gamer, and have been out of the hobby for 2 years, as it got stale and boring. I recently stumbled across a couple of people playing Warmachine, and was amazed at the standard of models and how unique the idea was. So, i googled it and came across the Privateer Press website.

I decided of Menoth, based purly on how amazing they look. Can anyone help me with a starting list; i dont want to make the mistake of purchasing unnessessary units, like i did in my 7 years of GWing.

many thanks.

don't know much about menoth per sec but if your based near Portsmouth we've got quite a diverse bunch of players that would be glad to help.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I'm not really a Menoth player myself, but I read up quite a bit on all the models I can. So, in lieu of posting a list, I'd suggest you visit battlecollge.wikispaces.com. They've got an article about every model Menoth has. I'm sure after reading up on all the caster, jacks, units and solos that you'll have a great idea about where to start.

Also of note is the program 'Armies of Immoren'. It's a list-builder for armies (up to 2,000 points) and easily allows you to calculate your points totals for models to see just what that points your list of models adds up to. (Warmachine games are usually played at 350, 500, and 750 points. Rarely, you'll see 1,000 point games and almost never will you see a 2,000 point army.)

So, you can look on Battlecollege, and if you find something you like, you can add it to a list in Armies of Immoren. When you're done, you can add or remove models to get into the point value you're looking for.

Hope this helped.

Thanks for your replys.

unfortunatly I live a fairly long way away from portsmouth, but there are a few WM and Horde gamers around where I live (Norwich).

As for the program and website, thanks! I'm just about to look at them. Are Menoth an easy force to play? I based my choices purly on aethetics but in practical terms are they fun/easy to grasp? Compared to any of the warmachine/horde armies?

Many Thanks

They're an attrition/denial army with elite melee elements and a support cast
of priests, knights, and holy what have yous.

Your army will be based on which warcaster you like.

Depending on flavor:

High Reclaimer aka "Silent Bob". Horde armies that he uses to fuel his
spell when they die.

Kreoss. Knight-Spellcaster who's better at preventing warcasters from
doing what they want than actual fighting. His feat is one of the strongest
in the game.

Severius- Distance spell caster army buffer.

Feora- Warrior glass cannon.

Amon- Tricky monk who controls the light warjacks (difficult to play)

High Executioner Servath Reznik- Odd mix of warjacks, magic denial and
combat. I still haven't gotten the feel for him.
