Ok so im currently designing my ork army (no max point limit decided on yet) and I have a few questions.

1) How many Boyz and Grotz are needed to be effective while foot slogging?

2) How many bikers per squad should one take (either nob bikers or regular)?

My plan is on a freebooter themed army (so I can do whatever). I am really looking for minimal numbers here - basically how many minumum should i take per squad.

Other than trukk boyz, I would never take less than 20 slugga boyz with a bosspoled powerclawed nob.

I like my shootas in a minimum of 20 as well to get 2 big shootas. Nob with bp, pk here too.

I am not a fan of regular bikers at all and I would take a minimum of 6 nob bikers ( and a biker warboss with cybork, pk, and attack squig. )

Take Ork Boyz in squads of 20 or 30.

Some people recommend 30, I like to take 20 as I find th unit big enough and not too un-wieldy on the battlefield.

Not sure about either form of Biker's, never used them to be honest.

Grotz I'm in the same boat. I would recommend takin either 19 or 29 though, then you don't have to fork out for the extra Runt Herd's.

I wouldnt take a unit of 30, unless youre playing a really big game. I tend to go with 20 - 25. As grim says, theyre quite unwieldy.

I prefer 25 Boyz (including the standard Bosspole/Klaw Nob).
When it comes to Bikers, I like 6. Small enough to make use of terrain, big enough to have an impact.
