Ok im very confused here, help me out.

At my local GW the staff along with many respected players are telling me that monoliths can move while firing the whip, which makes sense as its not actually "firing" a weapon.

However in the Errata section on the GW site it states that monoliths must remain stationary to fire its whip, my opponants are obliged to agree.

Q. Can the Monolith fire its particle whip and
gauss flux projectors in the same turn?
A. No, the Monolith cannot fire the particle whip
(as it is an ordnance weapon) and gauss flux
projectors in the same turn. The particle whip
uses the large blast marker and its range and line
of sight are measured from any of the Monolith’s
weapons.

I see nothing in the FAQ which suggests that the monolith must remain stationary to use the particle whip. Just to clarify, Ordnance weapons can be used when moving, Ordnance Barrage weapons firing indirectly may not.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

ah ok my bad.

SO in conclusion

The monolith may move and fire, however it may not fire AND use its flux arc within the same turn?

Okay, this all seems to make sense, but I have one question about this (not to argue, I use Necrons myself):

Isn't there a rule saying that you cant fire ordnance weapons while moving (or something like that, I can't remember)?

Nope. There is a rule saying you cannot fire ordnance barrage weapons indirectly while moving.

That's a holdover from 3rd edition, throw that old rulebook in your head away!

Janthkin: Thanks. I thought I might've had it mixed up. That said, I always played where I didn't move and fire it same turn, now I can unleash 6" MORE FURY!

Oh also, Nurgleboy: I actually haven't played 40k since 5th ed...so, yeah...(yeah I am pretty new to 40K)
