I am the noob. I am cutting my teeth and dakkadakka has helped enormously. I have lurked and read everything I could find about da boyz before posting.

There are two leagues that are getting ready to start up. i have a post in the lists thread (no one has replied to ) about the larger league, but I just entered a 500 point league as well. i am excited about it because it will allow me to understand the other armies and grow with the league. (500 points jan/feb, 750 mar/apr, 1000 may/jun, 1500 july/aug. )

I know there will be a few blackreach ork lists and marine lists. I have quite a few models and can field about anything that could be put in the list.

I was thinking big mek with kff bosspole and burna, 30 sluggas with nob with powerklaw and bosspole, and 20 shootas with 2 big shootas and a nob with powerklaw and bosspole.

Is that realistic? How can it handle the marine dred? Deffkoptas?

Thoughts on tactics and strategies?

go for rokkits in the squads aswell. as long as you have them & your powerklaws you should be OK against most stuff youll see in a 500 pt game.

Looking at his points, he could drop the flamer from the mek and get 2 rokkits in the slugga squad?

Is that a good trade off? Rokkits are pretty inaccurate and the flamer will do some damage when the sluggas get stuck in.

The only other way I see to get the rokkits is to reduce the boyz count. Do you think -4 sluggas for 2 rokkits is a good trade off?

depending on the requirements run as many boys as you can ( I did a 500 point that didnt require any HQ so I ran 60 boys 2 PK nobs and 3-6 RL) most of the time I was facing 10-20 models and I just ran rough shod over them all the time. RL are good in case some guy takles armor then you have 6 shots at poping a predator/rhino. Either way if you have to run 1 hq Id run 30 boys w/ nob pk and 3 RL for 245 one Wb or BM (warboss big choppa, eavy armor, cybork, shoota/skorcha a. squig boss pole 105 or BM eavy armor, cybork, a. squig, PK, boss pole, KFF the WB is a better choice) that puts you at 350 run another unit of 19 boys with a nob PK for 149 this puts you at 499. with 50 models. or ditch the RL and get another 5 boys and just run every turn.

"For the emperor!" "E' aint listenin!" *squish* (my fav blood and thunder quote)

BUT NOBS are NO GOOD at CC "ork town grot"
-perhaps the single dumbest comment I have ever heard-

I am thinking:
30 sluggas, 3 RL, nob with PK and BP
30 Shootas, 3 BS, nob with PK and BP

Are 3 RL enough to deal with dreadnaught and deffkoptas?

That should get it done, no?
