Okay were all building up to 2k points at our store and I have accumulated alot of models. I have about 140 boyz(want to run like 120) and i started assembling them with shootas but im not sure if thats better than slugga/choppa, should i really be running every turn or can i just rain bullets? Theres a bunch of other stuff i want to run so im waiting for the new storm boyz to come out and run about 40 of those and i have some killa kanz and lootas i think ill run one or the other in my list. Also have a battlewagon and thraka and a painboy. With that in mind i want to keep assembling boyz but wonder if im doing the right thing. Also how many should be in a squad assuming were 2k.
For a warboss on a bike do i have to buy a box of bikers and just put a warboss on it?

Can't say that I play orcs, but from what I've seen a mix is generally good. Most people I talk to seem to like about a 2:1 ratio of shootas to sluggas. The shootas do a bunch of damage on the way in and the sluggas mop up once they hit.

Nasty Nob on Warbike with Klaw

The best close combat unit is Nob bikers with powerklaws, but they are 75 points each, so it's tricky to get them where they will do the most good.

Check out this thread to read everything you ever wanted to know abotu Nob Bikers and how good they can be.
But yeah, you can also do really well with a gak ton of boys. Shoota boyz are a great buy.
Lootahs are fantastic, if you are running a horde style army you need some, two squads is good, of 12 to 15.
Orks are a great army, do you have an idea of what type of list you would like to play?

Oh sorry, and to asnwer your question, no you don't need any boys if you do not want to although they are a great buy.

Most people run 90-100% slugga choppa mobs, the shootas are ok (I have one 30 for a 6 of my mobs) in certain cases you just have to play them a little different, over all you are going to get all orks in cc the shootas are nice for a couple extra shots before charging. But to be honest Id rather have the extra attack. Its preference but Id go with as many slugga coppas mobs as you can. And yes run every turn, I used to have BS/Rl in my squads (I run 3 RL in the shoota boys) but I found I rarely shot them so it was a waste of points, now I just run all boys with a PK nob and run every turn. Always max the units when you can, BW's are nice for sticking 18 ard boys in (18 because this lets you run 2 characters or 1 megaarmored guy) if you run veh. a big mek with KFF is invaluable (a 4+ cover save gets your veh. across the board) alternativly nobs in a BW survive longer than biker nobs. Lootas are kind of hit and miss, mine do good but I know guys that always roll 1-2 for the number of shots. Anyway you can never go wrong with the hoard (180 boys plus some tank bustas/ burna boys) Killa kans are good to throw alongside running boys (but they cant waaggh) toss some skorchas on them and watch the enemy do the burny dance (usually when I run hoard I have a few kans, the enemy likes to focus on the kans which lets the boys get closer).

i do half of my boys with shootas and half with a choppa/slugga. my mobs are always filled to the max. shootas try to shoot up as much stuff as possible before choppa/slugga boy get to assault the enemies. choppa/slugga boys try to live long enough for shootas, kans, and anything else i got into close combat and reinforce the choppa/slugga boys. and in 2k games, i just like seeing 180 boys charge the space marine line, they just die. the poor guy never has enough to take me down. its even more comical to see tau try to stop me

Honestly, I believe shootas are the way to go. I run a battlewagon list with 60-100 shoota mobs in wagons; for me, the ability to whittle down units before a charge is far more useful to me then the extra close combat attacks; it is far more difficult to get enough boys in to h2h to make use of all those attacks, while it is far easier to get in 18" of a unit and kill a few meqs a turn. Also, point for point, shootas are better at killing then rapid-fire marines. All the players I see with effective lists always have at least a 2:1 ratio of shootas to sluggas. Shootas are simply far more versatile then sluggas.
As always, never take flash-gits or Tankbustas; they will only bring you sadness.

In my brief gaming experience, these are good units and have never let me down;
Shoota Boyz - I use Mobz of 20 as they are easier to move about the table
Stormboyz - I use Mobz of 12 to 15 and provide needed speed to a footslogger army
Lootas - Just bloody awesome and have always at least made their points back for me
Kommando's - Use Snikrot and two Burna's and they will create havoc

I personally am planning to buy three boxes of lootas and use the KMB from the Mek models to upgrade my Killa Kans - and convert three extra Deffguns. It's just not worth altering the weapons on your Lootas - the KMB shot will usually be wasted (at best) or self-destructive.
