i've seen a shokk attack gun take out 15 space marines in one turn, but im wondering with all the chances of it failing on you is this inconsist ent gun really worth it?

ive also seen a SAG kill a big mek and half a squad of lootas on turn 1.

theyre great fun to play against and can be downright scary, but for a competitive army? your better off taking a KFF or a warboss.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

They are risky and awesome. If you're rolling with Orks in the first place, you might as well go all the way.

I guess any gun that has the possibility to deny 10 terminators armor saves in one blow is awesome but i agree that perhaps a warboss would be the smarter use of points

I used one a couple of times with greate results!
However, I don't take it do to (as you said) the need of Warboss/Mek force field options.
I never had anything bad happen to my SAG, but I'm sure if it did go nuts I might not bring it again.

In a just for fun game I decided to field a grot-heavy list with a SAG Mek. He brought Nob Bikers.

Not only was he cheesy (he also smelt like rancid cheetos), he wasn't a very smart player. He bunched his Nob Bikers together, and went on and on how he was going to kick my ass (okay I guess you just brought nob bikers against a list I made specifically for goofyness )

Turn One:

I rolled double sixes and wiped out fourteen of his bikers in my first round of shooting.

Turn Two:

Good Game.

That said, I say bring them in strictly fun games, but never in competitions; they are just too unpredictable to me, and I need the HQ slots for KFF Meks and Warbosses.

14 bikers wow! that's sick I gotta say that had to have been worth the 60 points for the gun

SAG is both...

If you have vehicles/walkers... bring KFF meks

If you have nobs... bring a warboss

if you are just dead shooty with no vehicles, then he is your best bet. An example list where he would be the best choice...

SAG

15 lootas

15 lootas

15 lootas

30 shoota boys

30 shoota boys

19 grots

3 kannons

3 kannons

3 kannons

that list doesn't have anywhere interesting for a warboss to go, and should be able to deploy to get 4+ cover for the whole army except the kannons, who don't care about cover.

Please check out my current project blog

Feel free to PM me to talk about your list ideas....
