Ok I just finished looking through a couple of old posts about this. Is bioplasma still affected by rending in 5th? I cant get onto the FAQ for some reason so I don't know if this has already been addressed. If so this puts a whole new spin on taking out tanks.
Always hits on 4+, S+1. On a warrior with toxin sacs thats S6 against the rear armour of a tank that can rend.

Not only does it not rend in 5th it never rea/ly did in 4th. they took forever faqing it though.
Q. If a creature has Rending Claws, do Bio-
Plasma or attacks from its tail benefit from the
rending ability?
A. No, as these attacks are covered by their own
special rules.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.
Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole |

Na abilities don't mix like that. Just like rending doesn't effect tail weps. Don't worry the nids are a competitive army as is!

I'm not so sure. That would basically mean that Preferred Enemy would not work on the extra attacks you gain from Scything Talons. Do you have any rules to support your claim sexiest_hero?
My Tyranid knoweledge is limited but based on the biomorph enchancement description alone I think Preferred Enemy (gained from Feeder Tendrils) would work on Bio-plasma.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"... |

If the rule for bioplasma says "always hits on 4+" then you don't need any more information. The word "always" covers it. Preferred enemy doesn't affect it. Nothing* affects it.
Scything talons are close combat attacks based on WS. Of course preferred enemy affects those attacks.
*The Deciever's "Dread" might. The INAT faq mentions it.

Even with the new favored enemy rules of rerolling misses on the to hit rolls instead of always hitting on a 3+? I dont see why Feeder Tendrils wouldnt benefit Bioplasma in 5th edition (though i can possibly see why it wouldnt in 4th).
I need to recheck the faq and appropriate sections.

Bio plasma rule for "always hits on 4+" simply bypasses using WS to determine what you would need to hit. That has nothing to do with preventing a re-roll, as one that would be granted from feeder tendrils giving pref E.

Oh, my mistake. I was thinking of the way preferred enemy works in 4th. I agree that it would get the reroll in 5th. It is a close combat attack, after all.
