Expanding my army list...

Was chatting with a pal at FLGS this evening, and wondering if I should build Immortals or Pariahs. Have to do one first. I decided on Immortals, my pal said that he thought the pariahs were not as well-rounded a unit. Personally, I like the models and the fluff for them, but they are 8 pts more a model, which gives you a point ea of S and I plus the neat-o morale effects, but you lose the Necron ability of Immortals.

Tough call. But they will be an expensive unit to build, over $100, so thought I'd ask around a bit.

Immortals are kinda "standard". Pariahs are very specialised since they are so expensive to field, they are really there to watch other necron's back and eliminating space marine assaults.

I never field more than 4 Pariahs, if your really worried about them getting shot too early, attach a solar pulse lord to them.

I don't play Necrons. But when I hear people talk about them I get the impression that pariahs are their worst unit. Any care to elaborate? I also see more Immortals fielded. When I see immortals across the board I am wary but when I see pariahs I just shoot them down and finish them off in CC.

Immortals all the way.

Pariahs, while having +1S +1I and a warscythe, only have 1 attack each so at I3 they will not get enough attacks to do any damage after taking casualties.

Secondly they cost a rediculous amount of points. Your paying almost as much as a terminator for no terminator armour, average shooting and only 1 attack.

And Finally, they are not Necrons. The dont have WBB and they dont count towards your phase out total. Any army that includes pariahs will phase out faster than one that doesnt.

Immortals on the other hand have high toughness, good shooting, cost 8pts less and are necrons.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

You're asking:

"should I field one of my codexs best units, or my absolute worst unit?"

Regwon hit all the points

Pariahs are more expensive, suck in combat (1 A each), don't count towards phase out, don't get WBB.

Immortals are a rock solid 24 inch fire base of 2 shot heavy bolters essentially, which have a high toughness, and combined with monoliths/lords are quite hard to get rid of.

actually, the other point with them not being Necrons, is that Pariahs can't use the monolith for movement or deployment. So their very nasty warscythes are hard to get into CC anyway.

Pariahs are a big no, just trust me. As for immortals everyone loves me, although in my opinoin 5 warriors is just as good as 3 immortals.

But if its one or the other, then IMMORTALS.

As most of the posters already said, Immortals are extremely good units and Pariahs are just crap. Go for the Immortals.

I don't agree with Darth though, saying more Warriors is better than taking Immortals. Their ranged weaponry is just so much better than that of the Warriors. Thoughness 5 isn't exactly a bad thing either.

ok so the 5 warriors have T4, 3 immortals have T5. I think two extra lives from the warriors makes up for that +1 T.

Sure they are a bit more survivable (in their numbers), but I think being able to put out twice as many shots, at a higher strength, with a lower AP, while on the move is a bigger plus than the little bit of extra survivability the warriors have. Sure the shooting advantage of the Immortals is reduced drastically when the enemy is within 12", but that isn't a place where Necrons like to be, because they are terrible at close combat.

Necrons shoudnt be worrying about CC, when it looks nasty they should be getting out of there not bragging about their armour. I really think that a 5 warriors have a better shooting ability then 3 immortals overall.

Granted, Immortals look cooler.

Pariahs are heavy weapon fodder!!! Go with the immotalz ive seen them droped in from a monolith with devastateing effect. Although two huge units of warriors is also a nsaty thing to behold.

Make sure youve got a solid scoring base first off, as only your necron warriors can score..

Then go for these immortals but becareful fiedling small squads as these are prone to either breaking or just being wiped out (esp in cc) which will count against you for phasing out.
